AR Fleet personal mod question

Talk about anything related to old versions of Armada.

I have a personal mod that I have been working on for, well, probably too long and I am having some issues with it. I have only changed just a few things from stock A2 such as the Federation GUI, Federation ships available, etc. and I wanted to add the pack of alternate reality ships that was put up on filefront based on the 2009 movie, so I followed the readme instructions and I think that I fixed the texture problem, but every time I build one of these ships, as soon as it's completed the entire game freezes. Does anyone have an idea as to what is happening?

Loads of ideas. This is a very common error and usually it is related to a broken or non-existing ODF. With "freezes" do you mean a normal Armada2 CTD (Crash To Desktop)?

Indeed, like Terra said that narrows it down from a techtree error and other things.  It is most definitly an odf error.  It could relate to you having spelled a ship wrong when adding it to the build list, or a weapon.  Either way, it is usually either a missing file or misspelled reference.

When I say 'freezes', I mean that the background music stops, all menus cease to respond, all commands in-game are unresponsive, and I have to use the task manager to force the program to end. I ahve had suspicions about the .ODFs, but when I try to build any of the ships from this pack, the described problem occurs. I suppose that this probably points to a faulty techtree, doesn't it?

Building the ship causes a loop I think. You build it, which asks for ODF A, which asks for ODF B, which asks for ODF C, which asks for ODF B again and there you go.
That's my best guess at least. Or it could be a "simple" CTD, but for some reason, the computer freezes. Happens sometimes with old installs of Windows.

Actually, a techtree would cause a freeze on the loadscreen,  it is definitely a problem with the odf's.  It shouldn't be a problem with the build list, so it is probably a problem with one of the ships you are building.  If it is caused by any of the ships it might be physics or weapons that are used by all of them.  It could mean that the file is spelled differently than what it says in your ship files, or something similar to that.

Yes, I am quite curious what this issue is,because I do not believe I have ever experienced a freeze while already in-game :) . Will have to experiment a bit and see if I can mess up FO  :sweatdrop:

I suppose that maybe I missed something in the .ODFs. I think that I should state it bluntly that I am running on Windows 7, and the mod in question is a modified version of a stock Armada II with no other major modifications other than official patches. I will check through the .ODfs again to see if I missed anything and see if that might yield some insight.

I think that I found the problem. Would a hardpoint referencing a non-existant weapon cause a problem such as this?

News Flash- That was exactly the problem, I have no idea how that got past me the first time. Now everything works.

Freezes were quite common errors with stock a2 because sometimes it never got to the Error report.  It doesn't happen in FO though.
