Hello all, recently got a new computer and much to my dismay Fleet Ops seems to like crashing to desktop. I try to run the game, and immediately I get the following error: Access violation at address 00462535 in module 'Armada2.exe'. Read of address 00000000

No idea what it means, any help would be appreciated :)

Hmmmm..... Check any of these possibilities...

- The Installer was corrrupted and the installed files are damaged
- You may have a Direct-X not meeting the requirements (v 9.0 or higher recommended)
- A ddl or dll file is missing
- You may not be meeting the Hardware requirements
- Some other prob...

DirectX 9.0c is the minimum to be sure everything is OK.

If your computer is new, I'm assuming it's running Vista, that means DirectX 10 is installed. I'm also assuming your video card is more than enough to support FO.

That leaves few potential problems to deal with. Try running the install program as Admin and in a folder not in the "Program Files" hierarchy. Also, try to specify "Windows Millennium" or "Windows XP" as emulated operating system in the game properties.

Also, if I remember correctly, the install order is:

FO 3.0.6
FO 3.0.7
Multimedia Pack

I cannot think of anything else that may help, but people that use FO in Vista might provide further advice.

I have FO running fine on vista but what I had to do was install as admin and then also enable the excutable to run as admin too via its properties menu also I do not run it in capatibilty mode....also when I upgraded to 3.0.7 I had issues with it crashing so what I did was installed 3.0.6 then the multimedia patch then 3.0.7 patch..for some reason if I did it with the multimedia patch last I would have crashing game.....Maybe just for the hell of it try to install it without the multimedia patch or perhaps install 3.0.6 then check functionality then install 3.0.7 then check again then lastly install mmp..or try it in the order I described. I have no clue why vista is so incositent between dif platforms....

Actually I'm running XP right now, never liked vista. Have DirectX 10 installed, can run all other games flawlessly, and have been having issues with any of the variants of fleetops... no idea what else to do :(

You sure you have DX 10 on XP?

I thought XP stopped at 9.0c and Vista started at 10.

If you managed to install DX 10 on XP, that might be the problem.

Hmm, nope, reinstalled 9.0c, still having issues... grr! Most annoying part of this is that it used to work on this computer before i upgraded it..

impossible to get DX10 on XP unless the base OS system files are edited, and then you can never install DX9 drivers or the OS corrupts and you need to reinstall it.

as for your crash, a violation address is not a graphics issue.

are you using a crack? or a torrented A2? Sounds like its having trouble accessing the .exe access manifest.
