Experience in Armada I and AI WANTED!

Talk about anything related to old versions of Armada.

New here... currently developing a mini-mod of Armada I for more realistic and ship-specific weapons, as well as more realistic ship strengths, etc.

Anyway, anyone with experience in Armada I is most appreciated!

My main question I have right now is with AIP files.  Now I have no problem at all making them and understanding how the basic 2 column build list works.  However, I am modding on an Armada 1.2 Patch version that has several AI changes.  So when I went to edit the Federation Build Lists, Offensive List, and Defensive List everything checked out.  Heres the catch, when the game loads, the AI continues to do exactly what it did before!  It completely ignores my buildlists like they arent there and uses the original.  There is no copy of the original AIP file left in the install so I don't know how it is still using it!

Help!

Does pulling out the AIPs yield the same result? are all the aips for the specific race modified? or are (e.g. defensive.aip) still the same as old?

Is there an unchanged build list with instant_action in its name?

As of now I have edited

Federation.aip
Federation_build_list.aip
Federation_offensive.aip
Federation_defensive.aip

I completely unistalled then reinstalled it from the system, than reloaded my mod with no changes whatsover to anything in the AI section.  I simply added these 4 files to AIPs right after to overwrite stock because they match my mod, yet the computer is still ignoring them and just building what it was before.  So naturally the game crashes when it gets to the portion in the original stock build list that I no longer use.  Why they are completely ignoring them I don't understand!!!  The stock build lists arent even present anymore...

No idea how this could happen. All the changes i've made over the years have worked immediately. Though I just do the main list then copy and paste it over the other three.

Yeah I still havent figured it out.  Copying / overwriting the stock AIPs isn't changing what they are trying to build and I have no idea why.  I've used all 4 AIP files as the same.

Ughhhhh
