Is btw a good idea for a future patch.

That you can see the hardpoints in the tool tips and not only the actual Values of the ship.

to my knowledge there is no importer for 3d Max 5 only an exporter however you can import models if you have the non stock importer for ms3d.

Yeah if u get the Ms3D SOD Importer. However It will only mostly open "stock" models...though I do not have very much experience with it.

If you want to view the hardpoints on a non stock ship you need the storm 3d tool, check over at a2files

I tried the tool Storm 3D but after loading a file the screen stays black, perhaps a tutorial is a good idea.

Ben.after loading the file did u press the "+" key? after loading with the "-" key u have to push the "+" key to make the model appear. thats about all I know....oh and the function keys do stuff too but it depends on the model i think...im just pushing keys blindly actually....half the time I make the program crash blah blah lol....so indeed I need a tutorial.

Storm3D viewer won't work if you put it into the FO directory.

If you want to use it in FO, you need to put it in the 'Data' folder, then go into 'Textures' and put/copy the texture files into a folder called 'RGB' like they used in stock.

I've been looking at the fed_defiant SODs in stormviewer3d, and was wondering how can you get a map of the hardpoints themselves?  Storm shows the model, but I can't see where the HPs are.  Is there a control that toggles them on and off?  I want to add a few new weapons to this ship, but don't know where the hardpoints that could correspond with some weapon placements.

Would appreciate any assistance.

sorry to tell u this but storm 3d wont do this. you can either try to use assimview or equip dif colored phasers to each hp to map them out. no other way ive found.
