Hey all... Back from the summer and got a new computer (a monster really) and ive been trying to get my CD to install however when i try to start the installation it starts the install shield wizard thingy but when it reaches 100% it stays there for a few minutes before disappearing and no installation occuring. Any suggestions? Could it be the age of the game?

Have you tried installing it on admin rights? (I assume your new computer is win7 or vista)

Yep... Im the only user (and admin) of the computer
EDIT: Ive also been installing many games and programs in the last couple days so I dont think thats it. Its just that A2 is the oldest thing...
Would simply transferring the files on a memory stick then putting on FO work?

Hm, I am too... but UAC will always intercede if you haven't set everything on the lowest settings I believe
Only other thing I can think of is that you may want to install using compatibility mode on the program, or to install on another computer and just port the files over.

Gah... Well I got it working by having FO install using the CD in the drive so FO works... Now just to pick which compatability works or whatever since I cant get it to work like it did before.
And now to figure out how to port forward on this damn router since i cant seem to get access to the settings.

A suggestion for you is to install your older games in an XP Virtual Machine. Tried it a year or so ago using both Virtual Box and VMWare and several games worked fine including A2. For it to work well you really need a processor with virtualization (or whatever it is called) but as you have a new computer (and its a monster) i presume it would be fine as long as you set the 3D options in the virtualization software.

Look at the IP address of your computer. IT should say AAA.BBB.C.DDD.
Simply type in:
AAA.BBB.C.1

about UAC and windows 7:
turn it off temporarily. install armada 2 then turn it back on.
or run the setup program on the disc as admin. i think armada 2 uses setup.exe (in the root dir of the disk) to install. just run that as admin. right click -> run as admin. uac will prompt u for ok.
for fleetops, to download maps in game u will need to set fo to run as admin, find the shortcut u use to launch fleetops (probably the one the installer puts on your desktop) now right click -> properties -> compatibility. then tick the box for run as admin. now always use the same shortcut.
u can also do the same thing to the fleetops.exe file in your fleetops install dir. then any shortcut will still run as admin.
that doesnt always work depending on how your network is configured.
1) hold windows key and push R to get a run dialog
2) type cmd then push enter
3) type ipconfig then hit enter
4) under the adapter u are using to connect to the internet it should list default gateway, then the ip address of the default gateway, enter that ip address into the url bar of your internet browser. then enter the logon details. these can be found by google searching your router lol.
that will get u into the config of your router, after that the process depends on what router u have. look at portforward.com
on some routers u will need to define a new service then have a firewall rule forward that port.
to do any of this u will need to assign fixed ip addresses, and not have dhcp on.
tunngle should be able to do upnp anyway i think.
if u want, pm me and i can try help.

Also anyone using windows 7 and A2 what compatibility settings do you have it on? I have issues getting it to show anything when in full screen.

Preferablly Compatibility as XP SP2/3 would work. If you have compatibility mode all the way back to Win 98 then do it. DO NOT do Backward Compatibility as 2000 because I found 2000 mode to be a pain in the ass.

Probably not what you want to hear, but I am running Windows 7 and have had no trouble installing or running A2. I do get the warning about memory, but I can still run the game fine.
