latinum conversion for Borg

How would I get the Borg to be able to mine latinum and turn it into either metal or dilithium, Species 8472 mines everything as 'biomatter' from planets, latinum nebulas and dilithium moons, the transmuter converts it to biomatter. Is there a way to make the Borg do this for say Metal? I want to make the Borg able to mine latinum but treat it like a different resource. I'm looking at the guide right now but nothing is popping out at me. I know i'll have to add a latinum mining weapon and 'resourcecanhandle = latinum' but what else should i do?

As far as I know there is no way using that system because

latinumConversionRate
metalConversionRate
dilithiumConversionRate

are hardcoded for conversion into biomatter

couldn't you code the borg to use biomatter instead of metal/dilithium? thus solving the issue ?

Why not give the Borg a station like the Domion that  would take Latinum ant turn it in to  say a Neural  booster like the Domion Ketracell White . Each unit generated  could give a 1%  boost per unit for 1 second  bost to Efficientcy of the  selected unit .

one possible way could be to allow latinum but have a station that builds 'pods' that use latinum and a negative dilithium value this dilithium would grant you extra dilithium instead of removing
