Multiple docking Hardpoints

I'm thinking about trying to add more than one docking hardpoint to the Starbases to enable faster Latinum mining. (I know i could increase the rate of fire for the latinum mining weapon but would rather not) wondering if it would cause a crash or not...... (for Stock A2)

I think that you'd have to accomplish this with pods - though you could just autobuild the pods and make them invisible

don't know how i would do pods, I'm thinking more along the lines of simply adding another hard-point to where it says "Dockinghardpoint =.... " in the odf for any of the Starbases. the main thing i'm concerned with is if it would cause a CTD or would the ship thats trying to dock just get confused or something, can i even have multiple ships docked at the Starbase unloading latinum at the same time....if not then i can settle for changing the rate of fire for the latinum mining weapons

Oh, crud, I didn't see you were talking about the patch project . Yeah, I have no idea how to do it in patched A2, only in Fleet Ops I'm afraid . I think you can still get pods to do what you want in PP 1.2.5, but I don't they can be auto-built.

You could always ask Blade - he's an experienced Stock modder as well, and he'd know how or how not to accomplish this . I'm not sure there are too many other Stock modders on this forum.

I'm a stock modder, tho Im limited to .odf moding for the most part.
I've seen it done, I've even seen a mod were the whole borg tech tree of stations was the borg starbase building pods that did everything from yards to resource collection, and the Federation super station was a utopia planetia type ship yard structure, plus it also had 'docking' combat ships with most stations possible thru the saucer sep command (when a ship was docked, the docking segments model changed to the ships from that mod there docked with it, if the base blew, the ship was lost as well). Unfortunitly, I lost my copy of that mod in a drive crash, and it was before I was into .odf moding so I never even looked at the .odf's
Said mod's vanished since then, I remember hearing that the guy that did it got a lawsuit because he hacked the .exe or something, tho that was prolly cause the hacked .exe acted as a no-CD patch (I DO recall hearing he wotn the lawsuit tho, as his mod wasnt playable w/o stock files being pasted into the mod's folder)
