I've got the Build 'n' mine mod from A2files and i'm trying to make it where i can use an orbital station. The class label is 'cargo_ship' i changed it to 'planet'. when i built it though it changed texure to an m-class planet i saw the line 'canhaveoribitalstation = 0' and changed it to '1'. what else could i do. i've already added latinum and dilithium to the resources the station can handle in 'orbital.odf.

Can you describe more in depth what you are trying to do? I'd recommend reading the GameObject section of the guide so you get a background to what is feasible. For instance, ODF commands cannot just be combined without regard to which classlabel they belong to, so you need to understand which commands are inherited and how they function (i.e. canhaveorbitalstation is only available for resource configuration, and not for gameObjects
For resource config: Resource Configuration - The Hitchhiker's Guide to Fleet Operations
For all gameobjects: GameObject - The Hitchhiker's Guide to Fleet Operations

in a nutshell i'm trying to make it so i can use an orbital station on dilithium moons and latinum nebulas so i can take out the mining station and replace it with something else maybe some kind of battle station more powerful than a star base. i can already use the standard mining station on every resource but i'd rather not have to worry about freighters wondering into enemy territory once a resource is depleted. this is just for my personal build of stock a2. if its not possible then thats ok. i do have another question about a different topic. i'd like to add restricted hardpoints to the phasers so i don't have three phasers shooting at a port-side target from the starboard side of the ship. i've looked at the other topic about phaser arcs but i don't really know how it would work. i know i can change 'restrictfirearc =0' to '1' but what about the 1.61 thing? is there a way i can restrict it to say 90 degrees?

This is why I'd recommend to read the relevant sections All your questions have answers in those links and other pages there
Canhaveorbitalstation relevant effects:
Resource Configuration - The Hitchhiker's Guide to Fleet Operations
As you can see, canhaveorbitalstation only affects Planet gameObjects. So, unless you make your dilithium and latinum gameObjects Planets, it is not possible.
Of course, if you just are looking to not have to worry about wandering freighters, simply give the resource objects a trickle mining rate
Fire arc stuff:
Weapon - The Hitchhiker's Guide to Fleet Operations
Tips and Tricks - The Hitchhiker's Guide to Fleet Operations
Arc is in radians, and to restrict a hardpoint to a particular facing is done via hardpoints.
