Strategy Questions

Talk about anything related to old versions of Armada.

I was just doing a mission in STA2.  At one point during the mission, I decided to send artillery platforms to bombard a nebula that could hide ships.  I saw a cube enter that nebula earlier, and because I saw that cube as I decimated the nearby base, I decided to use my artillery ships to try to destroy the cube.  What would be the probability of escape for the cube if it was still inside the nebula?  The nebula disables shields and sensors, slows down ship movement, and is capable of hiding ships.

Has that strategy been tried before?

Aye, it's a nice one - and still applicable now if you use Serkas to bombard the Borg inside nebulae

I'm talking about the stock STA2.  Not the fleetops mod.  What is a "serka?"

I was aware of that :) I just said it's still possible to use a similar strategy in Fleet Ops  :sweatdrop:

You can probably even get an instant kill on that cube if you have more than 5-6 of those arties too as I recall  :sweatdrop:

Here's a question.  What if I built a turret for every station that I built?  When I'm able to get torpedo turrets, I simply add put those near the phaser turrets.  Would that help me last a while or would I run out of resources?

I'm guessing this is for stock A2.  Against the AI which doesn't know how to counter turtling I suspect it would work well, though you should make sure you're expanding your resource production at the same time.

The big problem you'll run into is a heavy drain on officers, that will cripple your ability to produce a viable fleet.

Not if I increase the officer limit by a factor of 100!  Then it would be impossible to run out of officers.
