Upcoming Keldon Class

I've decided to add the Keldon class to fleetops, but i want you guy's input on a few things first:
* What sort of task should it be geared towards?
* should it be an expensive or cheap vessel?
* how powerful should it be?

I want to equip the following ability to it as a veteran:
* Shield Inversion Torpedo
    Fires a torpedo that upon shield impact, will reverse the polarity of the shields
    This causes the shields to drop and hull damage is incurred equal to 1 quarter of maximum shield strength
How would i go about implementing this?

The Keldon Class is an Offensive Battlecruiser. It should be armed with the following arraymet (based of of Dominion Wars).

1x Heavy Cardassian Phaser
2x Heavy Torpedoes

Range: Long

Offensive Value = 48
Defensive Value = 36
System Value = 24

Special Weapons:
- Shield Inversion Torpedo
- Hyper Weapons Bank (Overcharges all weapons instantly disabling the target's sheilds and causing critical damage, cannot fire weapons afterward for 6 seconds)
- Hyper Shield Generator (Boosts sheild recharge rate by 200 percent, decreases rate of fire by 60%, lasts until canceeled)

Holy CRAP Gamer! Those stats are way to high for a battlecruiser--especially the Keldon. Wasn't it supposed to be the same strength as a Galaxy (or even less)? I mean, one of them got nearly destroyed by a Defiant class with only a few hits.

I'd give it long range or medium range, but an offense of about 30-32, a defense of 22 and a powerful system value because the Tal'Shiar helped construct them in the first place. Make that about 30-35 system.

I think it should be relatively expensive OR limited and cheap (honestly, I prefer the second option) because the Cardassians needed help to build these things in the first place (so technical expertise is limited). To make up for that, the special weapons you mentioned should be pretty powerful in my opinion.

The Cardassians are made mostly of Destroyers and Cruisers. Besides, they just called it a battlecruiser, other races classified it as a Midsize to heavy battleship. Cardassians need some power anyway. The only other source of combat power they have it the Hutet Dreadnought (a lot of people mistaken the arrayment of weapons on that as well)

Isn't the Keldon normally considered a Cruiser similar to an Akira with few Torp launchers, compared the the Galor Class Destroyer?

No, the Keldon is basically considered the Cardassian version of a battleship that is midway between a Galaxy and a Descent or Excalibur. It is fairly classified as a Battleship.

Memory Alpha would beg to differ, the Keldon is classed as a Cruiser (with 'Heavy Cruiser' being in the background section).

What Cardassians call a Heavy Cruiser (which is what they call it) and what the Feds call a Heavy cruiser are completely different in strength.  :sweatdrop:

(EDIT) Oops, I checked with the Dominion Wars Data Bank, it appears to be just short of an equal of a Galaxy class.

According to Dominion Wars Database:

Galaxy:
Shields: Heavy
Phaser Array: Level 5
Torpedoes: 2x fore, 2x aft (Photon torpedoes, not Quantum)

Keldon:
Shields: Heavy
Phaser Array: Level 4
Torpedoes: 2x fore (Heavy Torpedoes), 2x Aft (Light Torpeodoes)

Uhhh... Okay never mind on the battleship thing. It is a heavy cruiser.  :sweatdrop:

So...... When can the Keldon be released? Will it have good values, because I need something for the Cardies that is fairly powerful that can take on other cruisers and frigates.  :innocent:

It will be released with the galor i've modded in.
So seeing as it's a heavy cruiser and it might have been further refitted since the dominion wars, while the galaxy class isnt even a venture refit, ill go with the following stats:
28 offense
21 defense
30 system
It will have the "Regenerative Systems" passive ability which increases system value by 15 (the 30 is with that bonus)
Weapons outfit will be 2 torpedoes and 1 disruptor.
This makes it sort of a support vessel which regenerates health at phenomenal rates.
However i could use a special weapon other than a shield inversion torpedo, something to stick on the nonveteran ones. Ideas?

sugestion....weapons overload...fires a concentrated blast causing 15% damage per second to target ship lasts 6 seconds and can only be used once every 45 seconds.

I've got it!
* Particle Beam Cannon
    Fires a constant wash of particles at the target. these particles are partially phased and penetrate shields to deal constant hull damage.
    [some amount here] energy drain per second.
This can be implemented by stealing the assimilator weapon and making it not drain crew but deal damage. I'll have to investigate this!

Hmm, how about "Disrupter Bombardment" (ala destroying Founder homeworld surface): basically "sets the Spiral Wave Disrupters to wide area affect, engulfing ships that are close together in a devastating blaze of destruction". Does much more damage to destroyers due to low integrity shields but little damage to battleships due to the dispersive effects of large shields.

I guess this is pretty similar to the Magnan Array... but do you think that fits ok? Maybe change it to hit hulls rather than shields?
I like the stats and passive ability you gave the Keldon  :thumbsup:

Your going with Dominion Wars? A game that has 4 torp launchers on a Galaxy instead of the 2 it should? Talk about desperate for a Battleship.
