What If I want additional levels of upgrades?

Talk about anything related to old versions of Armada.

I am curious. In my STA3 Mod I'm supposedly would have more than 2 upgrades for some systems. Kinda like this:

So how do I do additional levels that are actually effective? Because I want all upgrades to be effective ingame. :blush:

sadly armada only allows 2 upgrade levels per system :(

:'( Aww... I really wanted to make my STA3 Mod much more compelling with research. Can it at least be considered in FO maybe? Or the Patch Project?  :( Because I like it when you can upgrade exceptionally large in areas of profession for the race.

yep that ssomething we looked at too, but the upgrade system has not been touched much yet. we might extend it in the future :)

well in fo its kindda doable u just need to make the station a yard and use the build list commands to add as many levels as you want. (guess it would need to be added to research stations to keep it working as research stations)

Fleet Ops is full of invisible weapons - stuff that does damage but doesn't actually have a sprite (no visual).

At least on the weapon portion of this, you could make up a bunch of special weapons along those lines.  Each special would be enabled by research, and would add to the damage the ship does automatically when the research is completed.  To make it look good, the invisible weapons would have to have the same reload times as the visible ones they're augmenting - and each ship would have to be done individually...  Still, that would give you an unlimited number (and specific) upgrades to the weapons.  This would be an ideal method if you wanted research specific to one ship class, or even one weapon type on that class.

The only other way to initiate upgrades I can think of would be to use replaceweapons that fire when research is completed, but the number of files would be massive - probably not worth trying.  Look at how many files the starbases need for 4 upgrades...

Old topic, but...   :sweatdrop: invisible weapons are not used thaaat frequently in Fleet Ops because of performance issues. :)

I just want to bring this topic up again.... Is it possible to edit the upgrade code? Maybe we should have Star Trek Armada 2's next Patch.

Instead of having set upgrade values, we redefine the code into a stackable strength booster. You define the percentage increase in the odf file of the research pod.
