Hello
I had an IDEA.
We all know that captured constructor can build only mix tech yard. And its original tech tree is gone. Its good, but it can be better.
I LOVE to see upgrade buttom like on fed repaire ship to make constructor adapt to race he curently belong.
for example
match klingon vs romulan...
klingon takes romulan constructor, builds mix tech yard (or not), and hit buttom "rewrite computer core" and voila formaly romulan constructor can build klingon techtree.
this can cost resources or suply or bouth...
every time it change owner , comp. core is deleted and need to be "rewrite" again.
Is this even posible ?
if it is ,this can open many tactical posibilities.... Love to see it.
please coment...
Thx.

I like this because it means that a faction has lost all its constructors and its STB but still has a large number of mining bases and ships they can capture an enemy constructor and resurrect their starbase. Right now, a faction in that position (no SB or constructors) is pretty much screwed.

This should be pretty easy to implement with a replace weapon, or even simply using very long builditemx lists and corresponding builditemxavailibylity lists.

This seems to me to be both good for game-play in those occasional situations where a player loses their constructors but still has a chance. Also seems fitting thematically - all the replicators, tractor beams, and fabrication facilities are all there - just got to get the ship tweaked to your specifications.
Does not fit thematically with capturing a Borg constructor, so maybe their constructor can not be reprogrammed???
Make the cost of the refit high enough(higher than just building your own constructor?) that people will only use the feature when there is little to no other option. Make the refit time long as well.
A nice idea Shadow, maybe it will get put in.

This is a great idea shadow
It would give people a much larger incentive to go after constructors and that would mean players would have to be wary of sending constructors around on their own without an escort. It would be a nice addition to the gameplay I feel.

It's a nice idea. I second.
On a minor note, I've noticed in heavy MP brawls that players will sometimes continue the attack no matter the sacrifice. At the end of a foray that's costly for both sides, one might be able to gain the advantage by capturing an enemy constructor with this ability enabled. Not to mention it's a new point of defensive concern for all players.

i like this idea.
could it be taken further by being able to build mix tech stations?
mix tech turrets?
feds could build cloak mine fields for instance (expensive if they were self replicating then it would have to be slow replication and they could all be used up if enough ships came along at once)

@OP Good idea! =) If there was a like button I would hit it. Should there be limitations on building things? Should a Borg constructor be able to build Starfleet Command? Maybe there could be special perks, like a turret built with a klingon constructor gets extra firepower.
