Magellan Class Starship

There is an abundance of ideas for Federation Ships. So here is one that I am putting in. On Filefront there is the Magellen (v1.0) that is a semi-recent upload. I know that its troublesome to view anything on there so let me simply upload the image here.

As for how the vessel would be utilized, this would be a support vessel of the late game that acts as an experimental warp-in like the Descent Class. This vessel would take 5 Warp-in slots and be equipped with the following abilities.

Multi-Dimensional Duplication:
Anyone remember the Star Trek Voyager Episode where there was two Voyagers in one point of space? Some might remember the part where Harry crosses over to another Voyager along with a baby girl whom died on the other Voyager. Now.... that I got the concept going in your mind. What this ability does is that it creates a subspace distortion using its warp-field and a targeted ship will get a Multi-Dimensional Duplicate. Hull Damage caused from this would be rather minor but the damage to subsystems would be catastrophic, smaller vessels could become almost entirely disabled while larger ships could loose only their engines and one other random system. The effect would last 15 seconds. And each time the ability is activated it would cost you 20 supply.

Subspace Gateway:
For the cost of 50 supply, you can create a temporary wormhole between the location of the Magellan Class vessel and any visible location within 10000 range units (aka in the file it would be 10000. I do not know how much distance it translates in scale though). The wormhole would last only 8 seconds.

Warp-Core Containment:
Do you ever get annoyed when that one ship that you are trying to get at veteran rank gets blown up? This can help a little. Using the coding of one of the Stock Armada's Diamond abilities with a little bit of rework this can be achieved. The ship creates a protective field around a target ship and protects it from ALL damage. However, it creates an intense power drain on the Magellan's shields and special energy. The field can only be maintained for 6 seconds at the most. But it creates a great risk of loosing the Magellan in the process. And if the Magellan is destroyed while this ability is happening. BOTH are destroyed.


I want each race to have at least one ship that has powerful but costly abilities. I think that all of these abilities have a sufficient cost to balance out the strength of the ability to keep it from being severely over powered. I am open to feedback on these ideas and I would also like a staff member's opinion on this as it is likely I am willing to have the ship for a different purpose or the abilities used on another vessel. I just think that its a ship that seems to fit the style of a FO ship. And these abilities are both unique and also able to be balanced.
