Mercenary's...how?

I'm interested in hearing how you plan to introduce mercs into Fleet Ops.I see the "bare basic" structure already in place such as the npc's so far.
I am assuming they will be selectable in the Instant Action screen page and placed on the map as the computer sees fit.
Will the human player just go up to the merc station (npc) and purchase which mercs it wants? ( This seems to be really difficult to do )
Or...
Will the human player use a "weapon" that is similar to Captain Future's Turbo Assimilation Beam for A2?This is a beam weapon that is fired at a target and "converts" that ship to a "friendly ship".I would also assume that your version would be invisble using a black tga effect so that the illusion of buying the merc takes place.
How close am I to being correct?
Also, I haven't seen any Ferengi ships appear in game to take your ships away.I assume this has been disabled too.I wouldnt mind seeing "attacking Borg Cubes" or perhaps space monsters apeearing in the Ferengi scavenger place.
BTW, here is a space creature from SFC that I hope someone will make for this mod it is called a Void Whale.Me and Jolt_Commander converted this one.

yes, neutral stations can be occupied by using a the 'occupy neutral' ability on them, which will grant wou and your team the special bonuses - for example hireing mercants.
we are working on the "you only have to fly there" method, but it's not completed yet, and if it does not work like we like it, this will be the alternative.

I seem to have seen the "ocupy neutral weapon" somewhere in the mod perhaps it was in the construction ship as a weapon slot.
I thought thats the way you were doing it I just wanted to confirm that.

The mercenary thing looks cool, thanks for some insight into how your gonna do it optec.
