Yeah the command cube(aka assimilation cube) will be the 3k meter TNG/FC cubes since we already have the 1k meter cubes from VOY.

Can't imagine that ungodly horror ever showing up in online games or replays though, considering how rare regular Cubes are...

yeah thats true. a cube has a long time of collecting resources, and its a terrible risk if u lay down the chassis but dont have the money to follow through, especially since any fleet at this time in the game will easily destroy it while building. most people would rather add an extra couple torp spheres than a cube. especially since each sphere comes out earlier. an extra diamond for even MOAR NANITES would be useful too. cubes are also vulernable to being controlled by special weapons.

4v4s would be most likely for normal cubes, but its gonna be rare to see a command cube. maybe if all 4 players pooled resources and went on the defensive, they could hold out just long enough. but a comm cube would still get controlled by specials.

I have to agree with these guys: a cube IS a major force in this game.  If anything, I think the devs are planning to make some cube variants cheaper.  A cube without any tactical plates currently has around 3000-4000 hitpoints while a double tac cube is around 7000-8000.  And it does take a large fleet to kill one of those tactical cubes when human beings are controlling both sides.  When playing vs the AI it's just not the same.

The most cubes I have seen in any multiplayer game was 5, and there were never more than 3 at a time.  Of course, that was the one game I've ever gotten a veteran Mijurial Tavara, which can stun a single target for about 30 seconds  :lol: :lol: :lol:

The difficulties of having a ship include pathing, determining when enemies are in range of the ship's weapons, and determining when the ship is in range of the enemy's weapons.  That can be the biggest one, as something like a NeghVar won't be able to fire if it bumps against the cube before it can get within range of the cube's center-point.

what if instead of hitting the center of a cube the cube has mods on the surface you could target (as seen in "universe at war: earth assault" game

Weapons don't hit the ship's centre, they actually hit hardpoints, defined in the odf. So that already happens, though it's not under your control, it just randomly chooses one of the closer ones to the firing vessel.

We need a buildable Federation Spacedock, that fires out / builds dozens of ships. Fedrolling on a new level!  :whistling:
