spectate without a disk?

Would it be possible to Spectate an online game without and A2 disk? or just see the tech trees? I have been waiting to get playing this awesome mod for over a year, but I still can't afford the disk. If none of these are possible I guess I'll just keep saving those pennies...

US Disk too expensive?
Try to buy the german copy, it's often sells under 10€. (Won't affect the language of your FleetOps installation, wich only has english localization anyways - the disk basically isn't even required, it's more of a legal thing)

I sometimes streamed (live) games via twitch.tv. Personally i think youtube replays are often quite fancy already.
