Dear fleetops people, aliens, klingons, romulans, borg, cardassians...
...and whatever else lurks about here!
I am newish here and wanted to offer you all a tentative greeting. My name is melody (melody1 on tunngle) and I am a soon to be student of psychology and a hopeless case of the startek "disease". But don't worry, I am not here for psych-evaluations or a cure to the startrek-disease, I am here to play. (at least until Uni starts )
And that brings me to the next point, I have never before played fleetops online with strangers (only a couple times of network at home against the AI with my brother who is currently dedicating all his time to his car) buuuut... I have been reading the forum for a while and have watched a good number of replays, enough to recognise a few of the more prominent names of the community like: Boggz, Dominus_Noctis(?), yandonman, funnystuffpictures, Mal, Tryptic, Jan, Myles, stardust and Sutee, some of who I already met. And there came a point when I felt lonely and found myself wanting to at least try to join the fun this community seems to be.
So, here I am looking for people to play with.
I enjoy teamwork and cooperative play and love to play with and against the AI - but I of course do understand if the preference mainly leans towards competitive gameplay. And thats perfectly fine! Just because I favor cooperative play does not mean I won't ever play against another player. For instance, I find team-games and the armada-mode (where you can share one base/player with someone else) very interesting and would love to find a partner with who I could look into that a little. Just keep in mind, I have never played a competitive game before, so just know what to expect and what not.
And that leads me to...
What I bring to this community:
* Friendliness
* Kindness
* Fairness
* Consideration
* Respect
* Maturity
What I expect from this community:

I am no friend of unforgiving people and bitterness, I perfectly understand that none of us is perfect - we make mistakes, we fail and sometimes act rashly and in a knee-jerk reaction that we later may regret.
But!
Just because noone is perfect should not be an excuse to be a jerk to one another. Because thats malice and that.. is very not cool.
Non the less, what is important is what we do *after* our mistakes as that defines who and what we are. There is little an honest apology or act of kindness and rue (if genuine) can't mend.
As such, I hope I have come to the right place.
Happy gaming everyone! And talk to you all soon on tunngle!

Do you live in Great Britain?
...just wondering, since my friend from there is the only person I know who uses the term "Uni"

welcome melody.
if u want people to join you against the ai (comp stomp), look for someone testing a new map, they will usually be more open to it in order to get some games on their map.
as for help learning the game via armada mode, just ask on tunngle, im sure someone will show you the ropes.
hope you enjoy your time here.

Heyho, welcome to FO . Even though your expectations are reasonable, just bear in mind that people can get quite touchy in game and undoubtedly there will be the occasional bickering - such is the way with all online games, as people are still competing against each other, or feel necessary to blame things on others Just keep a cool head, and have fun

Thank you for all the kind words (and good advice!).
I have already met a couple of you online, either in tunngle oooor.. in a game. Yes! I Already played my first two games. And it was great fun, the people seem to be very amiable and friendly to newcomers and eager to lend advice or some breathing room in game.
So far my first day has been very promising. (by the way the voice acting on the starships is awesome the newton for instance has a funny accent )
At any rate, I look forward to meeting more of you but for now happy gaming everyone and see you soon on tunngle or online.
edit: Oh, I almost forgot! Tryptic, no, I am not from the united kingdom but close! I am from allemagne, germania, the land of kraut of bratwurst or however you wish to call it.

Great you found the way to us Melody! I'm also ver interested in playing Armada mode... a feature which is underestimated in fun and tactical variety imo! 1v1 armada mode with 8 players would be neat!

Oh wow, thank you!
We should meet up and try armada-ing, maybe at first against computer opponents to get a feel for it but maybe we will grow to work so well together that we can be an awesome armada-team in competitive play.
Feel free to find me on tunggle or the forum for scheduling whenever.

Hi. Similar to Trekkiefan, I''ve been playing FO for a while now, but I've only just recently gotten an account on the site. Just as well, I'm hoping to soon get a Tuungle account so I can play with everybody. But my connection isn't the best, so I don't know if I'd lag the game too much for others. But who knows, maybe It'll be good enough, and we'll get to play a game together once that times comes.
I've been playing locally with my brother, and we tried Armada mode, and we thought it was awesome. I directed the ships while he built up the base. In the end, the AI was no match for us. Whenever I get onto Tuungle, I'd enjoy trying an Armada mode game. I could play with you and Jan on the same Armada, making it a three-way alliance. That would be fun.
