Something to compress files into RAR and to open them also? and has to free. seems like the good ones have a limited trial

I use PeaZip, a free RAR TAR ZIP files utility.
PeaZip is free file archiver utility, based on Open Source technologies of 7-Zip, p7zip, FreeArc, PAQ, and PEA projects.

WinRAR continues to work after the trial ends. It just shouts at you :P
