Avalon class question

The tooltip mentions it uses transporters to retrieve/launch fighters.

Wouldnt that require that the shields be lowerd ?

That was part of the old tooltips when the fighters really were being launched and retrieved via transporters, so should probably be removed now .

Incidentally, we've seen ships use transporters plenty of times without lowering shields - and in FO we have several examples as well (see Tavara, Vutpa', and B-8).

The Avalon could become some sort of troopship going by that... "Carrier first, troopship second".
However the slow speed would defeat that purpose easily.

I think the Avalon should be able to beam fighters DIRECTLY inside other ships and have them self-destruct.  Instant kill against all ships smaller than a cube.  This ability can only be used once the Federation have lost 100 ships. 

As for the OP, yeah fighters launch normally now, the spawning/despawning in space mechanic is long gone.

Yeah, the old 'every few minutes click an area of the map to spam fighters on' method was funny at times, but quite annoying past that.
