Building enemy designs is considered unrealistic, not even the name changed to fit the new race. Borg building alien designs is especially unnatural.

Mixed-Tech has taken the place of enemy ship building. Bits of their tech in your designs is more believable than all your tech in their designs.

well mixtech might have replaced it but the borg mixtech is useless anyway it stops ppl from getting the most from playing as the borg what is the point in being able to assimilate if u cant use the stations u assimilate

Yep!

I think the logic is that "The Borg would consider alien designs to be inefficient and primitive".  :D

Where do you reckon Borg repair their assimilated ships and ships of their allies? Their Mixed-Tech Yard is the only one that can repair ships (and allows extra Adaptor modules) and assimilated Shipyards.

Yards aren't just production facilities.

wow repairs and as for the ship modules thay get for it thay would be great if u could use them on a ship that can fight insted u get a ship that can take 2 modules = no room to add offensive modules after u have put on a effective amount of the mixtech one

Perhaps assimilate a few relevant letters ....

Also, if you looked around a little you'd discover that the borg are getting a hefty redo for the next version of flops.

dont be a spelling and or grammar nazi, i use u isntead of you all the time, go ahead and try correct me.

and you whine and cry when you're accused of being a troll.

on topic, i think the borg mixed tech is useful, i also want the redo, but those adaption modules can really be helpful, especially mid to late game when adaptors could easily be your weakest def ship on the field (spheres etc are many, scubes cant stand up to that amount of fire and are raiding), they will get autotargeted, and a bunch of dps from the enemy goes away. also ships get bigger and the big torps from the adaptor wont miss.

i also agree that the borg wouldnt wanna build other races ships, only assimilate them. why waste money on inferior designs, paying all that tritanium for quarters and mess halls that drones dont use. when you steal a yard you probably wont know how to use it, if toyota hired some thugs and captured a ford factory by force would they be able to build ford cars? would they want to?

even if it was possible for a race to know exactly how to build enemy ships upon stealing a yard, why would they want to? what klingon would enjoy flying around in a romulan ship and risk being insulted by comrades?

another reason is that a lot of the specialist components that might not be stored in the yard. like phaser coils or cloaking devices, they may be delivered during building (obviously too complex for a game to handle) by the mother race. so if a klingon captured a romulan yard, the romulans would obviously not be willing to supply them with romulan disruptors and plasma torps and cloaks. all these extra things are really contained within the supply resource.

EDIT: clarification.
