borg command cube
Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

yep, modules are not affected by the techtree

It's actually for my mod. The V.R.A. build "chassis" hulls that they upgrade into the ship they require via the Borg method.

I figured that was what it was for. If I recall, you build the chassis, and then you could select 3 different types of ships from it. You're basically wanting restricted access on some of them until certain requirements are met?
Hmmm..could you use the Perfect Logistics upgrade in any way?
It requires research, and the icon doesn't even show up until you have it. I'm sure you could add a build timer to it.

The problem with the Perfect Logistics is that it's a replaceweapon so it won't show any construction animations. With the collective uplink method of Borg Modules I have it so the ship's chassis shows the refits of the ships being added on like a construction animation. It's a neat little effect even though it's simple. I'm sure I'll find another way around it though... maybe by making the actual yards require research or something. Maybe if I'm lucky modules will be effected by the techtree in a future patch

I'm fine with command cube as long as the following is done.
- It has realistic fire power
- Is made extremely slow (because those things never zoomed around anywhere fast)
- That there are weapons that are very effective against it. That way it is possible for other races to counter it without having to blow the entire budget on ships to counter it.
- Make it have slow shot rates.

Borg are actually the fastest known species so that's bs. How do you think it reached the alpha quadrant all the way from the delta quadrant.
When the borg are not flying around the universe at warp 20 plus they are kiting the enemy like the locutus cube did at wolf 359 so they get the least amount of shots off.
Assuming the command cube is actually being thought of by the devs then a couple of extra modules that cant be abused with more weapons but for holding beam ect and some extra hull and of course making it slightly larger.

Come on man, you know theres no such thing as warp 20. thats why they use transwarp

Borg are the fastest if you consider warp speed and above, not so much in impulse or thruster speeds. In fact, Im pretty sure most other races are a lot more maneurable than their ships. However, due to the shape of their vessles, they dont really need to maneur, since you cannot come from behind of a cube or a sphere. So mostly they just stand there pwning everything (seen perfectly in First Contact at the beginning)
So IMO it should be slow.
Obviously if there were weapons specifically designed to counter it, no one would ever build it Other races will be able to counter it, Im sure, though remember that you will have to invest significant resources into countering it (Borg dont get it for free after all - they are not the federation ).
I think it'll just be a bigger version of the cube that already exists, with some twists and probably one of a kind weapons, but as with any other ship, if it will go into a fight unsupported - it will go down pretty damn fast
Though untill they actually include it into the game, all this speculation is baseless.

Everything seems to have gone pretty quiet on the Command Cube front, save for the fact that now it appears in the high priority section on the task list.
Are the team willing to share any more information on what we might expect from this type of Cube? What role is it meant to fulfil? Given that it's been over a year coming, I'm assuming it's not just any old Cube with an extra slot. Even just a bit of info would be nice.

When they finish the command cube, I hope they add more units for the other races to counter this beast!

They already have what they need; a fleet.

indeed, thats to be expected. if its just gonna be a more powerful cube (not guaranteed lol) then you'll just need more the same stuff that kills cubes. ie anything that spams torps and some ships with specials to control it.
