Hey, i was playing a guy on multiplayer and they were borg and i was federation, and i got completely killed, it was on path to nowhere, i was using admiral mayson i think, (the guy avatar). i started on the left side, and started to mine, and i consturcted a mining staion and a turret up at the other set of moons on my side, however i was defetead by his borg, after that, anything i threw at him was destroyed and with only one of each moon, her started growing and even when i sent 4 desents a fex intrepids and some akiras and one defiant at his fleet, he immediatly killed of the crew of 3 asimilated 2 and then i had to pull back and he the proceded to asimilat my adanced shipyard and decommisioned it, after that i of course died.

now my question is are there any stratagfies anyon can help me with to counter this, cus his assimilation thing is what really killed me, and im not one of those people who suck either, the borg just seem really strong. anyway back to the point. can anyone help me with this?

Use ships with a lot of crew on them if your worried about assimilation. Dont send sabres and defiants at him :)
Descents are a better pick, though I really cant say about the feds as I dont play as them :)

hm.. just wondering.. did you tech up? i.e. the upgrades for your ships? cause with two moonsets and a sfc center you can pump out a good mix of ships, then put them together in a fleet and concentrate the fire of the fleet on your high priority target. and while doing this, you can set the buildlist for the second fleet or go for the bigger upgrades (shields weapons etc)

Another defence is to be Borg yourself. They won't be assimilating those ships.

I never gave him a chance to tech up.  From the beginning I sent a probe to harrass him until I had 4 scout cubes to which I took out one mining station.  I then build 5 assims which kept taking over his ships regardless of the ship till I got my cubes :)

We also proved that if done right, 5 assims can take out 3 or 4 Descents with little problem if you mass the assimilation modules on them.

I also quickly went for the Devistation torpedoe to take out his shields.

So the anwser is simple, he did not start the game properly. You cannot allow yourself to be harassed by a probe, no way no how. Also by the time u had 4 scout cubes, he should have at least that number of monoons, plus some intrepids. By then u had him in your pocket and it was basically game over, doesnt matter what he did next :)

Really the borg are easy prey in the beginning, as they are the hardest to get resources flowing, so strike early and you'll have them. If you did make the mistake of letting them build up than you are in for the long haul. Bring in Steamrunners, and any other ship that can stay at long range. Try to use ships with high crew counts and keep defiants around for the weapon disable. The borg will more than likely eat through your shields through any number of shield ignoring affects, so focus on weapons upgrades also keep fleets in mass, a single ship is way to easy a target. For cubes its a numbers game, if you opponent is face rolling you with a cube, you have let him get way way to many resources. The good thing about the borg is for all their ability to soak in damage they do more to assimilate your fleet than destroy it. Offensively (without assimilation) They don't pack quite the punch that an == number of starships on your side would have. So its just like beat the turtle till you crack its shells. Also with the borg don't be afraid to go for the throat. They're ships are hell, so beating them only gives the borg more time to build more ships. Their base for the most part is going to feature very little in terms of actual defenses, so go for core structures. Unlike other race's home bases, the few structures the borg build are dependent on not falling prey to a ravaging fleet.

There will be some improvements on Defensive Structures, the Romulans will get a small production upgrade in the next patch

I've been practicing with the Borg. They start off very slowly. Since the resource gatherers hold more cargo, you really have to keep an eye on them and instruct them to dump their load at a mining station so you can keep up early fleet production. All the while your opponent is sending waves of ships at you and your really gritting your teeth defending with scout cubes until you obtain a high enough priority until you can build the Assimilator.

Once you get the Assimilator you can hold back those pesky destroyers better, and then its on to building the Sphere and the Diamond. They're good too.

But then you get the Cube, the mighty Cube and its all over for you enemy. I took out the Federation AI Hard with one Cube. :borg:

How? I put the Federation on medium and attacked with 2 Cubes, a Tactical Cube (Cube with 2 armor) & a bunch of Adapters with Federation adaption and the Federation slaughtered them in seconds.
