So guess what... last nite, in a dark room(i find playing games better in a dark room) i decide to boot up the ol fleetops, i put my disk in the cd-rom tray, close the tray only to find the disk tray not closing all the way, i put on my light, and see my disk got caught in the tray door, because in the dark i didnt put the disk in properly. now my disk that iv had for years has a nice big scratch along one side of it, where it got caught in the tray door. yea my stupid fault.
i tried to see if the disk was still ok by reinstalling armada 2 off it. no luck, its dead. now i know its not a train smash, i can just use my existing fleetops install to play with a disk crack. but whats happens come time someday i need to reinstall armada 2 for whatever reason... well ill need a new disk. (no i didnt make an image of the disk).
so i went onto amazon.com to find out what it would cost for me to buy a new disk. and sufficed to say, i got one hell of a shock.
on amazon.com to buy armada 2 new it would cost, wait for it...... $220.00 freaking dollars! my freaking greatness!!
to buy a used copy, of which i dont know what condition its in, wait for it...... $100.00 G*D dam forsaken dollars!!!
now is is just me or these amazon.com versions of armada2 coated in gold and encrusted with diamonds to make it so expensive? i know the game is rare and all but wowza!
well i guess my days of playing fleetops are over when something happens to my existing install.
anyone got any solutions to my problem? is possible that the devs might make fleetops a standalone game at some stage?

If you just want to use it for Fleet Operations, you can also try to get a German version, which is often cheaper (FO replaces all audio and text either way), for example overthere at ebay
Star Trek Armada 2_PC-Spiel_rar | eBay
Other options were posted in the stick thread Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Where to get Star Trek Armada II to install Fleet Operations?

I believe it's legal if you download an armada 2 ISO if you have the original disk etc.
Since you own the game and all....

I suggest using a nocd crack cant post link here tho (message me) the money is going to the retailers now not the devs anyway since no new disks are made and are charging extortionate prices because of it.

Ditto. PM sent.
edit: also, what if we aquired A2 in a country that lacked copyright laws, and were in a situation were returning to our home country with such goods was in fact legal as long as it was not in bulk ?

maybe when he accesses the link from mainland europe it provides him a local version instead of the uk version, which could explain a wildly different price.

It's a local version. Not everything revolves around the UK you know.
Either way, 105 Euro is really expensive.
I bought the pack for STVEF and found myself hooked on A1 &2 instead, but if it had been more than 40 Euro at that time i would not have bought it.
Besides A1 & A2 are no longer supported and almost freeware.

Also remember you dont NEED to install armada 2 to play fleet ops, all you need is for the system to recognize the CD's exe file. So as long as it can read that file you dont really have to worry about it. Also you could consider getting a CD repair kit, I got one for around 20 bucks and it really does great for taking out scratches, even fairly bad ones.

So if all you have is the no-cd crack .exe you're good ?
lol

Im not sure about the no cd crack, but as long as your computer can still read the exe file on the CD your good, I run FLOPS but dont have the actual A2 game installed. All FLOPS needs is an exe file to install off of, once the exe is registered nothing else is read off the cd as far as I know.

I could always send you my iso I made to back up mine. I actually don't have the back up disk any more because I gave it to someone who lost the disk, but I still have the iso(actually like .nrg for nero, but whatever)
so could you put the exe on a disk and run it like that?

In theory you should be able to, you basically just direct FLOPS to a exe file when it installs so I dont see why it wouldnt. Maybe ill try that.
