We have been discussing the Cardassians quite extensively in other threads, and for the most part people have been thinking of them with 2 options in mind - include in FO or reject from FO.
Albeit many who voted to reject from FO did so while taking NPC as synonymous with reject.

Therefore, to be precise as to the options ventured based on the several threads past and present, it would make more sense if we had the votes broken down based on the exact possibilities.

I do not want this to become another cardassian thread. So please refrain from posting any comments here.

Review all the threads and ideas ventured so far, and just vote as to how YOU would like to see the cardies - if at all.

hopefully this will finish off the discussion about Cardies once and for all.

**note that you may retract and recast your vote based on your reading of all the threads discussing the various options listed here.. please do not vacilliate too often though, it will defeat the purpose of the poll**

Well i think the cardassian should be a playable race, they are also a race that you see much in star trek.

I'm betting this will not finish off the discussion because not everyone will view this thread or choose to answer the poll. Also, I believe that you got the description of NPC wrong. NPC will be on ANY map (as far as I remember Optec clarifying), so long as you select the option.

surely, which is why we would certainly call vots for the doninion avatar or cardie separate tech tree as being quite synonymous and certainly to be counted together when deciding about leaving as NPC or playable.
but if playable, then the vote dichotomy will determine whether 3rd avatar or separate race.

:)

thanks for contributing. :)

But I do repeat my request that we abstain from posting further here, and only voted so as to to avoid turning this thread into a redundantly detailed discussion on the cardies, which has already been done in so many other threads.

Maybe. but a large proportion of our community does participate and does look through the posts. If the topic were ever drudged up in the past, this would be a clear reference point.

Also, I apologize if I misphrased it in a rush. I didnt mean only a map- or only 1 map.
I meant only present on maps. i.e strong NPC presence on a (any) map only as opposed to playable.
Always appreciate your astuteness  ^-^

There are different plans für NP Races like the Cardassians.

One way (definitely in) will be a fixed NP Races on a fixed map (for example a map themed arround the Dominion war could have some Cardassian and Breen NP factions fighting the players.. or even NP Races fighting against each other, to give the universe a mire vivid feeling)

Another Option (most definitely in) will be, that a fixed map contains a slot for an NP races which will be filled in randomly (Cardassians, Breen, Tholians, what ever comes along)

The third option (we are still in the conception phase here) are some NP-supported game modi, where NP races spawn during game and start up building bases and stuff like that. Not jet sure about the possibilities here, but we are working on it. will take a while

cool. nice to see the CArdies as NPC aren't as weak as previously declared. and building bases too

Would love to see how you guys conceptualize the NPC Cardy bases and textures. (maybe if we're lucky some of the spawning cardy ships will be Hutets :))

If we cant control or build using those Cardies, at least we'll be able to go up against them. And maybe CAPTURE a few through beaming. :)

I think they should be a full-tech playable race with 2 avatars(one a legate and another one maybe the head of the Obsidian Order). They shoud have most ships form a2 but also some new ones like the Veracidor, Detapa or Hutet

keeping the thread afloat till the end of the week.
Optec's remarks about the NPC cardies sound very interesting. Thanks for the input once more

One observation though.
They seem to be returning as NPc, stronger than they would even have been as playable.... considering all that has been cited in regards to their obliteration in the War or rebuild capacity etc as rationale for "nay to playable", NPC status brings them back with a bang. Go Cardies.

kinda makes you wonder what all the gripe was about from some of the forum member nay sayers and the weird excuses regarding storyline that were raised lol.

curious.

They were slaughtered in the war, true, but now they are getting help from the Federation to rebuild. The Federation likely has enough resource to spare to rebuild Cardassian very fast.

so now you're giving arguments that would make them playable with a separate tech tree - what was suggested as the Detapa Council avatar?? Curiouser still.

I'm just saying that they could rebuild and why. I can live with them as an NPC.

certainly, but all i am saying is that the reason given, is the exact same reason used to allow for a storyline entry of the cardie as playable.
It is interesting when people use argument 1 to keep them NPC citing difficulties with argument 2, and then use argument 2 to allow them as NPC while argument 2 is in complete opposition to 1.
Kinda contradictory :) interesting.

fyi -i can live with them as npc too. As i said, going up against them and getting to capture them, when they are coming back as NPC in the same force they would if the regular playable AI were playing, is as good as having them half playable.

Just found it interesting that people cited one storyline to keep them non-playable, and then ate crow when that very argument was flattened in order to keep them NPC.
