You cannot modify the AI settings mid-game. in any fashion that I am aware of.

I know this kinda breaks it for you, but Frank, there is always the levelup command if you want to replicate your officer status vessels just for the heck of it :D

I remember that you can change the settings in the menu option while the game is running, however I have no idea whether that actually changes the difficulty level of the AI  :sweatdrop:

I think the Menu setting effects Single player only.

Single player, not Intant Action. They are different things.

Ah ok :) Didn't get you the first time Tyler

@ Frank, the levelup command is "levelup" (typed into the chat). If you want more cheats, hints, whatever, you can download the guide from the downloads section :)

changing the AI durring an instant action game works. I've tested that myself and it works fine. For example you you start the game against a hard AI, then change it to merciless it will imediately start spamming shipyards and getting out shit loads of ships of all types. Try it and you'll see what I mean

press escape and go to the game menu. there's an option where you can change the key, mouse and game speed. above these options is the difficulty changer. Just set it to hard and you'll see the diference ;)
