Hey, thought i just had. The starfleet command now has the ships warp in from a map edge and move to the location, right? What if your playing a map where your walled in by asteroids and have a wormhole into your base? or your in the middle of the map and the enemy is all around you? The ship wouldn't be able to reach your base, or have you put something in to overcome that?

Thanks, just realised it and thought i'd pass the note on.

as long as the ships are warping in they ignore blocking elements like asteroid belts :) its just eye candy

don't worry, while i developed the feature i tested it on the "asteroid halma" map.  warp-in ships can pass through any object and cannot be attacked. as optec said, it's just eye candy, and alot better than the ship popping up out of nothing ;)

Will warp-ins reveal any shroud or fog of war when traversing its path?

no, they won't. other players may be able to see them while warping in.
in the video demonstrating the improved warp-in feature, we have had shroud and fog disabled

that never makes sense, right we are fighting the romulans but becuse of a PEACE treaty that has clearly been broken by all sides we can't use cloak...

just watching that video again, and the battle looks amazing!

I know its been mentioned before but if the ships moved when fighted it would be even better. Might be something for a future version of the patch project.

The concern I have with the movie as good as it looks the star-fleet ships are not acting like star trek ships displayed in movies and in the shows. They have very very little movement with makes it less believable.

Having said that the game a hole other then movement is grate work.

actually it was the treaty with the Klingons that made it so that we can not use cloak. not the romulans

Nah meredith..its the Treaty of Algeron with the Romulans that forbid the Federation from developing cloaking technology..see the TNG Season 7 Ep "The Pegasus"

and besides what if we are at war with them aswell?!

Regardless of treaties or the poltical situation, i think the Federation would try to avoid cloak anyway; they like to see themselves as the "white knights" of the galaxy, and with the Pegasus incident (and the Incursion arc from Star Fleet Command III, if that can be considered canon), i doubt they would want to trigger another incident.

Perhaps they would authorise small-scale use with special ops (like the Defiant), but i doubt we'd be looking at a fleet-wide deployment. They'd probably want to focus more on levelling the playing field with tachyon technology and keeping their "do-gooder" image.

Besides, it would probably be cheaper just to borrow some Klingons and have them do the op for you.
