Construction ship button

I have a request to make for the game that I bet a lot of people will be happy to see implemented. I was playing earlier today, and was getting annoyed because I had too many construction ships, and no way to get them doing what I wanted because they were spread out and I had to move all over the place and click on each one of them. Then I was thinking about a way to make it easier I thought of Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds an old game I have, and in the game you have this button in the corner that flashes when one of your workers is done building something and is not doing anything. When you click it, it automatically selects the worker, and you order it to do something else. Who would like to see it put in?

Why not just put all the Construction ships in a team? Like Team 0.

You can cycle through ' every so often, that will give you idle workers too :)

I was wondering about a chain-construction system where you can assign multiple assignments to one ship and when it is done it immediately moves to the next assignment just like shipyards. :rolleyes:

Just have a Construction Depot where all construction ship go to after  they finish their build assignment. Kind of like a  yard rally point but in reverse. There they recrew and take on supplies.To  have a  automatic Build que type like a  yard would  unbalance  a bit the game I feel. You should have to plann your builds carefully and moniter as well.  With this feature it  would take the burden to  manage  your assets well out of the loop . Although I would welcome the automatic return to your  starbase or designated spot.

It already groups my Constructors together like that...annoying as Hell.

I should say out of this but...

Having never played your afore mentioned Star Wars game, i dont know nor miss you said feature.  One might think that trying to keep track of who is where doing what is all part of the challenge of the game.  

The ships will automatically fire on enemy ships unless otherwise ordered.   What more do you need.  HECK, THESE will even fire their special ability all on there own.  we are truely living the good life boys.  anytime you get annoyed with this, go and play A1 for a week, and see how annoyed you are.

the rest is all orginazational ability, tactics & skill

Well, the button was wonderful! It increased my construction rate by 54.2193%! Actually I'm no Data math wise, (because I hate it) but the button would really be useful, and the chain construction would be great. Or, maybe an upgrade that would allow for the worker vessels to build two or even three things at the exact same time! That would be great.

The only thing i see new here is the flashing when there's new ships; one of the buttons in the upper right is already an idle ships button...  ^-^

Yeah. The button already exists, but it's generic.

I would like to have separate buttons for combat and support ships, like in Age of Empires or Galactic Battlegrounds (those share the same engine, so it's no surprise that both behave the same).

IIRC, the point (".") key was for combat units and the comma (",") key cycled between idle workers.

It's quite annoying trying to locate a construction ship when you have 3-4 fleets of 16 ships.

Yeah, I agree. They were really nice, and I am always missing it when I play Fleet Ops.

I'm sorry, I just wanted to draw attention to that. Because I think it's an amazing idea.

Uh... I had a load of stuff to write, I'm just going to go ahead and make a new thread as long as that's alright with Pappy63.

On topic: Yes, more ergonomic ship selecting buttons would be nice :thumbsup:

That would not be good, it's would be more annoying than the current 'bug' version of it. Especially when that 'assignment' happens to be on the other side of the map. Plus, they already go places after building sometimes.

Several times, I set one build a Mining base outside the base and then find that same Constructor had automatically gone back to the base.
