D'Kora Marauders

While discussing various Star Trek topics with my dad the other day, he brought an interesting fact to ligh about the Ferengi that I hadn't noticed until he said it. Besides the numerous ST games that have come out, TNG is the ONLY series where we saw the Ferengi D'Kora-Class Marauders. The Ferengi appeared lots during DS9, but every time we saw their ships, it was always some shuttle. My dad said that he would have thought that the Grand Nagus should have been in one of them, but even that wasn't the case.

Anyone know if there was something that happened in the ST universe or in the real-life production world that caused the Marauders to disappear?

i always wondered why zek wouldnt want a fancy ship

the only excuse i can think of is wanting to avoid attention and assassination attempts. or driving down costs  zek cant avoid the credit crunch  we will add your financial distinctiveness to our own. quantitative easing is futile.

i just assumed that rick berman was too cheep to dig out the ole model.  that or just chalk it up to BAD storytelling

As much as I say 'aww' to your father and son conversation. You're both very mistaken, in the Voyager episode, the Inside Man, we see a D'kora Marauder.

i forgot about that lol. was the actual vessel seen or just a computer depiction of it at pathfinder?

yh they should have made an appearance in ds9, especially after they switched to CGI, cos the one in voyager is probably CGI

Heh I'm glad that find was mentioned because I was curious as to why Marauders seemed to vanish. Not to go off subject but I loved how the Iconians were mentioned in that episode...

yh they loved to throw in that name, but only to whet our appetite, they never gave us what we really wanted.
i would have loved a flashback to the time of iconians flying around the galaxy in ships fighting a war.

they must have had some ships. i mean before they invented the gates. or if the stargate gateway didnt arrive til tuesday or something, showing us a little iconian ship battle would have been nice. maybe only as a graphic on the iconian computer screen when picard found their gateway.

i mean even if you can transport an army direct to their planet, small arms wont destroy orbiting ships. they would need a fleet to stop their enemies fleets.
