I think the point is that starfleet re uses designs, and keeps them running for a long time. Its possible that the design was just so good that they kept it for a reaalllyy long time.
However, I wouldn't argue if the devs did replace it. I have no problem with the current one, but anything they add new to the game is a bonus to me.

i think neither are too old. stations arent ships, they dont have the same structural stuff to worry about, so presumably its a lot easier to rearrange a station inside than it is for a ship.

I said before stations can probably be used longer. That was more of a 'if Spacedock's too old, the Outpost of the same age must be'. A post before claimed the Spacedock was old enough to be retired, using ship ages as an example.
I just wish the Outpost looked more like the canon one...

i dont think that spacedock is too old.
i dont think that if spacedock was too old that automatically a completely different design must be too old. thats like saying the connie refit being too old makes the miranda too old. which we know is wrong. some designs naturally can last longer than others.

You mean the same Miranda that's out of construction by TNG and out of use entirely by FO? That seemed much younger than the Constitution, the Starbases both appeared at around the same time.
But then, 'stations arent ships' as you said.

there was no evidence that the miranda was any older than the connie refit.
starfleet may not have been building new mirandas, but there were many left, refitted.
for all we know spacedock was a lot older than the outpost type. it cant be much newer as it appears in the following film for the first time.
my point is that there's no reason why either station couldnt still exist in fleetops. the spacedock shroom could be a map object that was built a while ago and starfleet saw no reason to decom.

I don't typically use 'first appeared' as a sign of age, however the Miranda never appearing until the Constitution is several decades old is noticable. The Oupost and Spacedock are both pre-Excelsior stations, meaning they're at least a similar age.
Also, I never said anything about the Spacedock not being around anymore because of their age; that's what I was speaking against.

i was talking about the connie refit, the connie refit is so incredibly different from the connie, its almost its own class. i doubt they kept much of the original enterprise from tos. i wouldnt be surprised if the refits were new builds and the enterprise's name just got carried over for kirk's sake.

The refit pretty much did replace the ship, though Starfleet still counted it as several decades old. They apparently see it as the same ship.

The Enterprise was just refit
Constitution class model - Memory Alpha, the Star Trek Wiki
What would make sense is that the existing connies got the refit, with some new connies being build as refits, being more advanced than the refitted connies, explaining why the ENT-A had to be retired.
As for the current Fed starbase model: Studio models (films) - Memory Alpha, the Star Trek Wiki
The model is a generic copy+paste+slight change=new station, so we cant really guess it's age.
