This is pretty nick picky, but it seems that the federation bases and turrets should use either/both phasers and photon torpedos over pulse shots. The reason is strictly aesthetic! Defiant aside, it doesn't seem a weapon of choice. When Borg are closing in, the steady sound of pulse shots seems to detract from the scene, not augment.
