Had an awesome game tonight (warning: image heavy post!)
Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

Four of us were on tonight doing a 4v3 with 3 Merciless AI (2x Dom, 1x Borg). Game was about 1.5 hours (short by our standards, we have had 3+ hour games before) and was intense, it is on a new map made by Battlehawk117 (a throwback to the old FedHell/KlingHell/RomHell/BorgHell maps from our A1 days) with a LOT of ships in the middle to be broken through before you can reach the other side.
We always enjoy long games where we take time to build up huge fleets (100+cubes for Borg or 250-300 ships for other races), our games are usually the locked ones with Defiant001 or Battlehawk117 as the host.
Here is the admirals log, I also attached the whole log for those interested.

Here are some screenshots for those interested!
AI attacking the forces in the middle, almost wiped out at this point:
Defending the wormhole on our side! This amount of defenses was just enough actually.
Starting to push through the middle, tons of resistance!
Wiping out the enemy:
Victory:
The defenses back at our base without most of the ships:
The majority of the white and orange on the left are incubation centers, we build around 35ish each so we can supply not only ourselves but any non-Borg teammates as well (so they don't have to buy any!).
Anyways, just wanted to show you guys how we play for those interested, thanks for reading!

Those pictures are awesome, Defiant! And for the record Defiant001 is just as real as defiant74025. Tuungle talk has Defiant001 labeled as the "fake" Defiant but he's been around since Armada 1.
I created this map based on a map that Defiant and I played on the original Armada. I take credit for making the Fleet Ops version of it but not the original Armada 1 version.
As Defiant mentioned, we password our games because we have different gaming styles from the rest of the community, and we respect that. We prefer to live up to the name of Fleet Ops rather than play Rush Ops.
I do plan on bringing back more maps from the original Armada game and other variants. Most of the maps that I will bring back are rush proof. If anyone is interested in playing these maps we will be happy to transfer them to you. Feel free to PM Defiant001, McDoogle9505, or me.

that's a normal tactic even when other people play (just on a smaller scale). if any of you are interested in playing dominion, the ketracel stations do the job much more efficiently (if moons are available). sacrifice tri moons first, as the sort of fleets you built are dil heavy.
also if you're gonna spam that many late game ships as romulan, then don't spam cehlaers, spam something higher in the tech tree. preferably big D, as enemy late game ships will be big and vulnerable to torps. also the big D special is easier to use in massive battles select a handful of them and use the special to reduce enemy damage.

easy there tiger, you're perfectly entitled to play fleetops however you please, but don't insult the rest of us by saying we're not playing "fleet ops" but are instead playing rush ops. you have your style, and others have a different style. what you call a rush, others call normal gameplay.

We felt that cehlaers were an excellent choice over the higher level ships because they were quick to build and easily replaceable. Although they were weaker and had less fire power, they could weaken enemy targets from a distance before they reached our base, still pack a decent punch. The fact that they could easily be mass produced within minutes was a huge advantage because we had to deal with over 350+ enemy ship from each attack. Their main role was to damage rather than destroy
Apologies if my comment about fleet ops was misinterpreted but I also did say I respected different gaming styles so I didn't really insult anyone especially since I did not pick on any particular person.

I have used the dominion supply miners before, I like the idea of doing that. The problem is we need every unit of dilithium and tritanium we can get until later in the game when tritanium starts becoming a surplus. Plus if I was dominion I couldn't have my cubes, though I could have Breen Battleships which I like...
The advantage of the Borg Incubation centers are that I don't have to sacrifice any moons for them plus if I am optimize I can turn supplies into dilithium which I can never get enough of.

Had another good game today, 4 of us vs 3 Merciless Dominion.
There are 300 Defiants in that small cluster alone! The orange blob above this area on the mini map was 300 Breen Battleships on the way to the fight!
I also tried the dominion supply method and found it to be quite good with this amount of moons, I dedicated 3 tritanium moons at first with 3 mining stations and 5 supply miners per station. This wasn't enough so I added 2 more mining stations to the moons and one more station with 4 supply miners at another tritanium moon. This pumped out a ton, next time I will dedicate 1 more tritanium moon and 1 dilithium moon.

supply miners take ages to unload, but gather from the moon almost instantly. this is deliberate, as in smaller games you can share a moon between resource and supply mining. 2 resource miners leave a small gap for a supply miner to quickly fill up.
as the slow part is at the station, each moon you want to dedicate to supply should be surrounded by 4 supply stations, one up/left/right/down. i usually go for 2 supply miners at each station. i'm not sure if more will work.
also consider swapping your defiant blob (blob = more than 10) for a sovvie blob. defiants are generally awesome, but their pulses are doing less damage to the late game ships that matter with fleets this large (eg v13, breen battleship, borg cube, etc). and with fleets this large it isn't easy to micro their special. the sovvie special is a bit easier as it doesn't need aiming, just pick a sovvie near the front of the fleet and push the button. with your fleet this big, any small ships will still be destroyed in 1 volley so the pulses aren't getting the job done faster against small ships.
as dominion i see you have a lot of v13s, a good choice, they don't really have a weakness, and they rank up incredibly. Their special when used by a large number of them is epic.

Those V13s weren't ours, they were the AIs. The problem with V13s is that we have found them to be quite weak compared to the Breen Battleships. In large numbers I lose a ton of them compared to the Breen ships and they don't do nearly as much damage even when fully upgraded. Plus the Breen engine upgrade is great for making everything faster.

true, breen battleships are also a good choice for your needs. the extra damage to battleships is good against large ai fleets. the special is more micro intensive though. dominion have good options for end game ships.
