This is something Optec said that I found on a very, very old thread:

I must admit, the Fleet Operations universe (the new races and some of the new vessels for example) are from my Star Trek rpg..
We have no plans about an RPG in the Fleet Operations universe.. but perhaps i will think on a few quests ;-) but Fleet Operations as a mod has highest priority at the moment :-)

I assume this means that the devs have a storyline planed, and all we need to do is wring it out of them, heheheh...

well whole of fleetops was based on the RPG they played years ago so... uhmm it was already known that they had a story line

when ever fleetops is compleet. after the last vertion has ben made.

that means they start with a hl2 mod......... when the nextgenshooters change to abandonware like sensible soccer n stuff..
