Lamenting Priority
Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

I actually liked the Priority mechanism for the Borg. It combined some attributes of a tech tree (restricting later tech ships 'till later) and encouraged building/using some of the early ships. Plus it gave the Bord (to me) a really unique feel, even compared to other RTSs, which I really liked.
But then it was replaced by Collective Connections which is nothing more than just another accumulating supply mechanism (unless I'm missing something?) for the Borg.
I'm curious, what was the rational for moving to Collective Connections over Priority?

Priority had some balancing issues and it was irrelevant once the priority "cap" of 100 was reached. Connections will be changed in the next patch a bit again, in order to control the Borg techtree a bit better

Connections are good. Priority was also good.
IMO, when other races are not constrained to have to build sabres instead of akiras or sovvies first, there is no rationale for the borg to do so.
connections adds the robustness to the borg tree, allowing a player to really decide and plan his fleets accordingly.
However costs for all borg hulls are a bit killing atm, so the borg are a bit reeling, and are forced to adopt more aggressive tactics with early assims and spheres lest they fall behind by virtue of cost advantages possessed by the other races.
Connections once tweaked based on optec's description of 3.07 IMO will be much more flexible than priority. Allowing the player to actually pick and choose his fleets, without being forced to always have scubes at the start and forcibly follow the old linear progression.
they will also entail more planning as they will not be "after 100 nothing relevant", the way priority was.
