Mal wrote:Also, you'll see in the odfs that the torpedo miss chance for the Borg and the Klingons are the same as everyone else.  It'll hit destroyers 60% of the time, 80% of the time for cruisers, and 100% of the time for battleships. :)

Cheers Mal, seems like a good layman's way to work things out, which is all you really need for the moment untill full stats can come up, i think someones working on some right now (Did a trial with the Akira and it looked good )

On another note. How much does the Sabre's hyper impulse engine reduce torpedo accuracy by?

Just blame it on those damn university papers that apparently have one too many cliches.

What I want to figure out is all the things I'm missing and how they get factored in.  For instance, how does firing arc factor into the equation?  Do forward-firing pulse weapons actually lower the offensive value some, since they can't fire backwards?  If I had a "crack the whip" smiley, I'd use it for poor Optec. :sorcerer:  He never seems to get a break.

the papers dont have clichés. most of the time the answers do....   :innocent:

i dont believe arc would figure in at all. especially since BOps that have forward firing arcs are ranked at 15-17, while rhienn phaser refits that fire around the ship are at 19, and dominion scarabs that also fire around the ship and are at 11 only. it seems to be a hit/rate issue... I didnt even buy into the rate aspect since ive seen excelsiors doing much more rate related cumulative damage with their rapid fire torps than a slow shooting sphere.. until you guys mentioned it's all tweaked in odfs    :)

Just read your post, Anthony.  I just checked and against torpedoes, the hit chance is .51, or 51%.  With hyper-impulse the hit chance drops to .42, or 42%.

I think Dircome is the one doing putting up the stats.  If you don't want to wait for that (It'll be a lot of work, even if he skips all the side variations for vessels), you can always go into the odf files.  What's the worst that could happen?  If you screw up and change something, just reinstall FO :D

It might seem scary at first, but once you start poking around, you'll see just how organized their files are.  It's very easy to understand.  There are some 50 different ship types for the assimilator, plus their weapons and hit chances, but once you realize everything is labeled in a logical fashion, it's easy look through even the borg odfs.  It gives me a greater appreciation for what they do.  There's a lot of behind the scenes work that goes on that we really never see.  This is just one of the few things we can, and it's very well done.

the only weird thing is the extraneous weapon that is on the top of the odf in stead of the middle.  other than that they are very organized
