cool as they are as they open a new world of special ships,  WHY CANT YOU REPAIR SHIPS at one????

am i alone in thinking they SHOULD repair ships too.

what good is a gas station with no gas?

I my self have pondered this very question.

RIGHT!

i mean chances are in the heat of battle, you capture a enemy constuctor, (cant build an enemy fleet anymore  :crybaby: )  but at least you get that one yard out of it, and you cant even fix the constructor that probably baddly needs it.  not to mention your fleet that captured it in the first place,  or rather, whatever is LEFT of your fleet

Actually, that is not exactly true.

You see, the "no repair" policy in MOST Mixed Tech shipyards makes sense. Theoretically, they are secret structures, so you don't want your allies to go there nosing around.

And yet, the Borg MT Shipyards build nothing, but allow allied repair.

Also, I move the captured builder to my main base as soon as possible, surrounded by the fleet that captured it, and build the MTSs there.

(EDIT: typo)

there is a logic to that, but why cant you fix your OWN ships there.

OR

how about this.

i TRUE Battle yard.    A structure that could NOT build any ships, but simply help repair ships.  low cost to build, make them in enemy teritory, 2 sabers could take it out in 4 shots maybe.

OR

really outside the ole box.

there was an episode of Enterprise, where they found this repair dock in space,  had 2 docking tubes.  would fix ANY ship, for a price.  CAN there even be a structure EVERYONE in a game could use, reguardless of team?  it could be fun to watch enemys shoot it out while in line to get fixed.

I like that idea, much better than screwing up the MT yards by making them repair.

If it was set to 'Percieved Team: 0', that fun wouldn't be there...

I think you would have to classify it as an invaled target. Or else someone could order an atack on it even if it is team 0  :whistling:

well, in true Enterprise fashion,  you COULD destroy it,  but it would just slowly rebuilt itself

Every time I use thing like that, the game automaticaly disables them when a game starts.

You can force fire anything, even if it is an invalid target. 'Percieved Team' is what prevents the ships and AI from auto-firing at things, treating Team 1-8 units as if they were on Team 0. I've messed around with 'Team' and 'Percieved Team' before.

Make it a point that can be held... like a flag. whomever has more ships in proximity is allowed to repair their ships there...

For a price, of course... No neutral is likely to allow their yards to be used for free.

:(

no man,  Free for all.  but in a good way.  well not free either,  50 dyl, 50 tri & 5 supply per ship.  REGUARDLESS of size.

those are MY thoughts on it anyways

So what happens when your ship comes out of the yard and its surrounded by 900 cubes waiting to do the same?

I'm betting that a neutral or captureable repair station will be one of the buildings up for the "neutral/map objects" patch.

Mixed-tech facilities don't get repair facilities because the idea is that you CANNOT rely on your mixed tech facilities. Hence you are further punished for building those stations in lieu of normal shipyards.

They're screwed because of terrible timing... If the Cube Class was even capable of repairing, at least.
