The latest update takes so long to be released and it would change things a lot as i have been reading.

But ! that would also mean a lot of work to fix in the days after release as there will be more bugs/exploits to be used due to some mistakes or glitches.

Not only that but the wait for me personally is kinda boring, i like to play armada and smaller updates would be accepted better than big updates and long waiting times

so my suggestion for future updates to fleetops please add in features gradually and not in big chunks.
This will also work better for testing new things that might turn out to be a bad idea.

cheers

Hehe, I think that is the general consensus around these forums :) . However, I must say, redoing the GUI and coding and balance formulas took a heck of a lot of time for them, and then the complete rebalancing that is going on means there needs to be a ton of testing. Sadly it's somewhat impossible to really "balance" a few things at a time when you go for a change of this magnitude--everything has to be done at once. Why not enjoy the game as it is now, and be surprised when the patch comes out? The Devs understand that there will be a lot of hotfixes needed after, and they are prepared for that. These type of patches however have a lot to do with changing stuff "under the hood", and so you have to expect a long wait :)

I honestly like the little chunks as well, but like I said above, sometimes it's quit difficult to manage that. :sweatdrop:

I agree with Dom on this one.  Let the devs do the job how it works best for them.  We have a perfectly good mod to play in the meantime.

The balance issues really cant be fixed a little at a time.  If you do you will be forever adding a little power here, taking some there, and all the buffs and nerfs will get on peoples nerves just as much as the wait.

Also, if your getting THAT bored with fleetops, go over to filefront and grab a couple other mods.  There not by any means up to fleetops level of polish, but sometimes I like playing Babylon 5 A2, or Star Wars Fleet Command just for a change of pace.  Im deployed to Korea right now, so I dont even have my computer here.  But at home I have 5 different installs of A2 on my system.

-The original game with the Armada2Files Upgrade Project installed (purely graphics upgrade)

-Babylon 5

-Star Wars Fleet Command

-The FreeSpace 2 mod (adds GTVA and Shivans, just fun to play with)

and FleetOps (the best mod of all time)

I didn't vote because my choice, "it alright as it is", is not there.

Big updates that take a lot of time to develop and small updates to correct unexpected bugs as fast as possible. In my opinion, that's the way to go.

Good point.  Im not complaining about the current setup, I just gave a suggestion if people are bored in waiting.

in fact we are already doing little junks :) sadly we cant do something like a larger rebalancing in smaller pieces.. we cant rebalance one race without touching the others :) thats why the next patch takes a bit longer

I like how it is now.  We've got to remember that the entire team consists of 4 guys!  That's a lot of work for them, especially with all the interface upgrades.  The time between patches isn't any different than popular retail games or mmorpgs.  Plus they have lives and need to fit important things into their schedule, like having sex with girls.
