New Orleans usage in FO.

Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

I was wondering will you make the New Orleans a distress call ship?

And if so or even if you dont what kind of armaments are you going to give the ship?

The ship seems to have 3 forward and rear torpedo tubes mind laying ability and phaser strips.

Ex Astris Scientia - New Orleans Class Reconstruction

New Orleans and the Cheyenne are similar you could build them using some of the same parts.

I wouln't mind knowing what the devs think those pods are... if it has a torpedo launcher, it'll probably be in the same relative place as a Galaxy has its launchers.

well seeing as we never saw those pods in use the devs are free to invent any use they like for them.

warpins have a lot of torps now, so maybe it will contain pulses? long range/arty pulses? maybe it could join the steamy in the arty warpin? usually arty munches buildings, a pulse armed arty ship would be interesting indeed. it wouldnt work vs buildings.

it could be like nebula superstructures. some new orleans have torps, some phasers etc.

That ship looks to big to be artillery but i think it would be cool if it had rapid fire pulses.

I don't think size is important for artillery (unless it's small like a Saber maaaaaaaay be). The Excelsior-II for example isn't small but also artillery (at least on officer-rank).
Those pods could also contain launchers for antimatter-charges for example. Good phaser-damage to reduce enemy shielding and when they fall, unleash havoc to the spaceframe itself.

If the windows are anything to go by, the New Orleans might be a few decks shorter than a Sabre.

What About a system that uses Modified/Refited torp launchers Like The Excel, just more system value, incerased Special Enegry, longer range, and volly fire patterns. Or a art range shock pulse system that uses special enegry.

I think a system like with the Excel -with or without additional power- would taste very much like a copy of the Excel, so the devs wouldn't do that I think.

So it would be used as a anti-destoryer/crusier Ship Armed with long to artlry range pulse based weaponry, thats definatly somthing new to warp-in. But its not very useful in late game, as your opponet is fielding more Frigates and battleships.

As for the pulse talk..... guys this is an older ship.

It wouldnt have pulse weaponry.

The pods are torpedos for torpedo spam.

Take a close look at "Best of both Worlds" and say that again. I'll keep a bag of laughter ready for ya

Age means nothing for pulses; they are not new, only the particular type of cannon in use. Refitted Constitution Class has pulse weapons instead of regular beam phasers.

Got a source on the torpedo spam idea? Because it certainly doesn't come from any canon source.

indeed we have no canon reference to the new orleans weapons capabilities. the devs can choose any fed sounding weapons they like and they wont violate canon.

I say this in the best of taste, of course, but given the class name, I know the concept of a special ability along the lines of "Subspace Hurricane" would pique anyone's curiosity.
