No Hold Position for ships

Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

I can't seem to make my ships hold position. If any part of my base or even turrets get attacked all my ships go charging like mindless ants. I loose entire fleets of ships, they just go and will follow the enemy the entire map. I tell them to move back to a point but they turn right around and go towards the enemy again.
How do I make them stay put and not move no matter what? I have other defenses to handle an attack, I want my ships to stay put while I build them up, assemble and NUM tag my ships.
Takes forever to build up my fleet only to have them annihilated in seconds because they get strung out and I'm just not ready with NUM tags to enable their abilities.
If I remember ST Armada had a hold position command, but no were do I see it here, the ships just do their own thing. This just breaks the game to a point if there is no HOLD here, I'll just uninstall it.

I'd try setting your fleet to no movement autonomy in the AI settings (I think the icon looks like a brain right next to transporters). The Steamrunner still likes to be a brave little hero though even when in no autonomy  :sweatdrop:

this should be covered by movement autonomy, if u set a ship (or group of ships) to low movement autonomy then they should never move unless told to.

sometimes they will be annoying and move though.

if u set your ships on both green alert and low movement autonomy then they should never move, but they wont attack stuff unless told to either. but as i understand u have the static defences to protect your base so it wont matter.

Awesome! I'll go look up those settings and try what you guys suggested. I hope it works.

It worked! Thank you all for your fast fast reply and accurate responses. Also Fleet Operations is simply amazing! Makes Armada 2 very similar to the original Armada. The shield effects are fantastic. The tactical camera rocks too, giving me that Armada feeling. Great mod.
I never clicked on the "brain" icon. Green Alert, Hold, while I build my forces. I finally beat the computer.
Thank you thank you!

Yes Sir, It's done Sir. ID iTEPB

Actually I have tunngle and play a heavily custom mod I did for CoHOF v2.301 with a few friends.
Now we can play some Star Trek!
Armada (1) still runs on Win7 but it's so graphically dated, but I made a mod for that too, new ships, multi phazers, Defiant cloak, etc etc, so we still play it every so often.

This mod though, wow! Only thing I miss in A2FO is Galaxy class and Defiant Cloak.
But my last name is Breen, so being able to play as the Breen (tech tree) is sweet.

The Defiant can get cloak if you build Rom-mixed technology, and the Galaxy class is available through warp-in.

Does FO still count as a mod anymore? It's practically its own game now.

I'm wowed again! I did do a warp in from Start Fleet HQ, but only got 2 Excelsior and 1 Ambassador ship.
Please tell me there is a Nebula class ship in there too!

Is there some master list, oh I do see the Hitchhikers guide to FO. I'll have to read threw that.

Yea I would agree Tyler, this is a total conversion, soooo much better then Armada 2. I stopped playing A2 years ago, but just stumbled on this Conversion a few days ago. New life for A2.

Warp-In includes; Excelsior, Ambassador, Nebula, Steamrunner, Galaxy & Descent Class (this one's under the special Warp-In, not the regular one).
