I have perhaps the most incredible luck of anyone here.
About a week ago, I found a rekindled interest in Armada II, and hoped there were some nice mods out for it by now. One in particular caught my attention, a real classy looking one named Fleet Operations, but it had looked like their long awaited Fleetops 3 (i.e. the version that would work with my Vista ) was nowhere to be seen. I put this site in my bookmarks and kept looking. But I look today, and lo and behold, Fleetops 3 is magically here! What an answer to my prayers!
If I ramble a bit you'll have to excuse me. This mod is simply amazing. The graphics are so radically better than Armada II's, it's incredible. The closest comparasion I would have would be if a top-notch, big-budget game studio were to have made Armada in 2008 instead of 7 years prior. The pod traffic is a wonderful touch and really makes me feel like I'm managing an honest-to-God base instead of an agglamation of space stations, and I love you guys for getting rid of warp. Not just because of the underhanded tactics, but because it was pretty ugly in itself how the ships just stretched and unrealistically turned at right angles... The visual effects really make the experience; (not that I'm complaining about the hi-res ships! Wow!) they're so far above and beyond what I've come to expect from Armada II that I can't even call it the same game anymore. Therefore, I shall call stock AII Armada, and this I shall dub Fleetops by itself.
The avatar selection is another favorite of mine: I've been a turtler my whole life. The whole feel of this mod is just so polished and new it's incredible; it feels like I'm playing a game that came out with the blessings of the visual effects company that did ST Nemesis. I really like the new ships given a chance in this mod and how every ship has a purpose. I think I'll be doing a lot more mixing of ship classes in my fleets from now on, with hopefully devastating results. To be honest, I've only had a few hours with this amazing mod and have only given the Federation a whirl. But if the other sides and avatars are like the ones I've experienced thus far -and I see no reason why they won't be- then you, good sirs of the Fleetops mod team, have my vote for mod of the century.
Endless congratulations on your release of Fleetops 3, and endless thanks for the hard work and dedication that has obviously been poured into this mod. You have just earned yourselves one very dedicated, fervent fan.

Heh, did anyone ever wonder what would happen if we, say, went back in time to 2001 and showed FO 3.0 to an A2 player then?
Wonder no more!

Wow. The Borg, I'm pleased to say, are UTTERLY delightful to play as. All the factions are, in fact. Caught a whole Dominion fleet off guard and took 'em over with two pimped out Assimilators
Just a simply amazing game. I can't wait to play more.

As the others have said: Nothing to be dissapointed about, this 'mod' is A+ work. The few tiny glitches aside, all the sides seem perfectly balanced. I especially must thank you for making the Breen allies worthy of their name, one fleet of Breen Battleships was enough to counter the Fed's annoying sfc free ship spam. Decent's may be pretty epic, but they are sitting ducks with no shields.
Congrats and thank you Fleet Ops team, I can't wait to see what is yet to come.
