I'm curious: do any Borg players research Perfect Logistics?

i've done it before. it's a good buy if you're sure you can last for about ten minutes. then it's pure profit forever.
i usually upgrade home base miners as they are safest.
it's not the most immediately rewarding thing to get, so sometimes it can be ignored. also most people go for transmission when they want nanites or scube transwarp/boarding.

Perfect logistics costs 4 points, so I usually forgo it in favor of things like Partial Adaption and Slizer. Is the extra income enough to justify researching it in any situation? In a short game, you'd be sacrificing attack-enhancing abilities for something that may not pay off. Conversely, Borg players already have robust economies that can support them through long games.

Since most games last more than 12 minutes after getting a Transmission Matrix, an economy boost (and increased defense for 4 miners) is never a bad thing - fewer ships with more damage, or more ships with slightly less damage (10% less if you aren't doing Partial Adaption for instance).

well after around 12 minutes it starts making pure profit. but that doesnt include what you sacrificed by not getting having the 4 slots. so the longer the game goes on, the better logistics is. so it's better in team games, but i think it's still ok in a 1v1 if you think the game will continue for more than 12 minutes.
in the short term it gives a slight bonus of making the 4 miners tougher.
it really depends on what you want more. slicer/adaption give instant bonuses, but those bonuses remain constant for the rest of the game, with every passing minute, perfect logistics becomes a sounder decision. so if you can slow the game down with regen spheres/relays then you can make it worth your while.
i think logistics is overlooked. its not the wonder weapon nanites is, its a long term investment. boring, but a good earner.
there are a couple situations where it can be a wonderful thing, i played a 3v3 once on nebula gate, that is a map with limited resources, 2 moon pairs per player. they were raiding us pretty hard and building a fed roll. but my team had 2 borgs, so we both went perfect logistics (at least i think the other guy did, i know for sure i did). we had scouting and knew we couldnt waltz over to the other side and fight for a while due to them gaining an early lead, so we defended and slowed the game down. in the end we managed to make enough cubes with nanites to beat their attempted fedroll of e2s.
when resources are scarce, perfect logistics is really potent. a pair of moons is by far the best way to get dil/tri, but once all the moons had miners, perfect logistics was the only way to get a resource advantage.

I find this to be useful. However I often usually forgo using this as I often just push myself to get another pair of moons.

if you can get another moon pair, then that moon pair will give you more money and will be a better investment. the only downside is you have to defend another part of the map. and slower later game borg ships can have trouble exercising map control, by this time in the game the enemy fleet can now raid your miners if they can get to them, so you have to make sure if they kill any of your mining that you roll up on their base and exterminate all their mining. tit for tat.
so yeah that's the balance, moons give better money than perfect logistics, but have more risk aassociated with them. as it should be.
