Oh, goody: I didn't know the cardies were going to be future npr, and I forgot about that little detail (Dominion no longer includes cardassians). I know about the mod for the mod, but I really want to play with humans and with breen option: I do not have the necessary skills however . What ships do the 3 cardy ones replace? ...or is it added on to the existing list?

The Cardassian-mod, which is actually a Cardassian-Avatar, replaces the Breen-Avatar. So the Breen-vessels are replaced with Cardassian ones.
The destroyer, which I believe to be the smallest available Breen-ship, is replaced by a Hideki-class fighter, the Breen-cruiser, the next larger vessel, is replaced by the Galor-class and the Breen-Dreadnought is replaced by the Keldon-class.
Well... maybe I got mixed up here with the Breen-vessels... basically the Breen-units are replaced by Cardassian ones.

So how'd you manage to keep the Breen and still have the cardies: did you just make an extra copy of the breen? ...perhaps you'd care to share this accomplishment with the rest of flops *hint, hint, nudge, nudge*

My favorite two are the Noxter and the Borg . I love to pit the two aginst each other. Allthough I do Like the Cardassian's as a close third Dreanought Missle Aginst the Noxter and Borg is the most fun to play.

Yeah, the good 'ol days of v2 (but no cardassians from what I remember: do you mean from vanilla Armada?)
"Soon" we will receive the gift of the noxter again: me thinks v5 ish

Okay, here's the story of things I did to FO V3PR :-D
I started with forcing FO to time-travel back to the Dominion War, so the Cardies could still be part of the Dominion. (Maybe I should just not have watched the last season of DS9 right before )
If my harddrive hadn't crashed in the meantime I could tell you pretty detailed what I did. Now it's an exercise in remembering that stuff..
Well, then I decided that I didn't like the Bomber that much and replaced it with the Hideki-Fighter. I decided the same for the heavy cruiser (If this is the only unit built in the large yard which doesn't need a prototype.) and the battle cruiser which I replaced by the Galor and Keldon.
I arranged the build-buttons to avoid having cardie-ships spread over the list and I put them together.
It worked that way then:
Avatar Dominion Pure Tech:
The Hideki-Fighter (which came instead of the Bomber) was buildable right from the start. But it was weaker than the Bug but a bit cheaper, too.
The Galor-Class was buildable right after you had the Large Yard. You needed at least one Galor to be able to build the Keldon-Class.
Dominion Pure Tech had an extra-upgrade available for the Galor and Keldon Class then, which needed to be researched - instead of the fighters, which were out of the game because the battle-cruiser was no longer available. I called that upgrade "Obsidian Order Refit". When these refits were available you could - guess what... - refit your Galors and Keldons which was quite expensive but usefull. I gave the Galor-Obsidian-Order-Refit some kind of ECM-ability like the Remoore. The Keldon-class got something called "Plasma Bank Overload" which affected the targeted ship like the Ferengi weapon.
The ship stats were also upgraded if you used the refit. But the Cardies were always weaker than the strongest Dominion-vessel.
That's what my Cardies looked like in Pure Tech - thanks to Overlord/Zeichs great work without I couldn't have done that. I don't have any idea about modelling at all.
Breen Avatar:
The Cardies were also availabe while playing the Breen. The idea was basically the same and the same ships were replaced by Cardassian ones but the Obsidian Order Refits were not available. The reason was, that the Cardies didn't like the Breen that much and the Obsidian Order wouldn't see a reason to support Breen-lead-fleets with top-secret-technology. So the Cardies were quite weak here but pretty cheap. I wouldn't talk about Galor/Keldon-spam but if your economy was very fine.. you could have if you wanted to.
So, it featured the three above mentioned quite balanced Cardassian ships for both Dominion-Avatars and "new" special abilities for them.
One thing I worked at right before the crash were the appropriate voice-overs. That's something I have to confess, I got stuck with But I disliked a Galor with a Jem'Hadar-Commander that much that I wouldn't have stopped trying to add voice-overs until it would have been a Cardassian voice.
That's what I did. That's what is lost.
But maybe I'll build it up again.
But I have to say, too, that there are still no intentions to publish this mod for the mod.
While modding the Cardies into the Dominion I learned that much about odf-editing and all the text-coding which FO is based on and I know I didn't even scratch the surface - it's incredible what the FO-team does here!
Again: Big thanks to Overlord/Zeich! Without his work I wouldn't have been able to do this and I have to add: I'm looking really forward to see his Cardie-ships in FO some day!

Sounds fantastic! But it's a real shame you lost it all
Why aren't you part of the flops design team anyway if you can do all this (and more)?

Uhm.. well, that thought makes me laugh and a huge thank you comes right with it!
No worries: It doesn't make me laugh because I thought it was weird or something. I just have somehow the feeling not to even touch the FO-teams skills.
Well, the whole mod is something I could rebuild. That's not the problem.
Basically my problem is time. Even if I would be invited to join the staff, it would be unlikely to quicken the process because the days I am at home are rare compared to the days I'm away until very late at night.
But I'm happy to hear that you appreciate the idea of my work. Thanks a lot!

I was Reading the Forum about Who is your Favorite Race, and Someone metioned about Terrans.
While I've seen Every Episode of Enterprise, I have never Seen Terrans in a Fleet Ops game!
Mabey the question gets a Broad Answer, of Races Beyond the Game in the Star Trek Universe.
There are TONS of Races in the 5 Series, including Xindi, Telaxian, Orions, Denobulan, Kazon, and you can Even condsider the Terran Empire a Race (of Humans!!:D).

Oh Cardies, how I miss thee.
There's a great mod from Overlord/Zeich out there who has built three Cardassian ships, the Hideki, the Galor and the Keldon for FO with a Cardassian Avatar for the Dominion.
If you're hot for Cardies you can use this mod. I tried it myself and loved it, too.
If you're a bit skilled, you could also integrate the Cardies into the Dominion tech-tree and keep the Breen instead. That's what I did and I couldn't stop playing the Dominion.
In the first instance, because Cardies somehow are the Dominion. Second, because Zeich's work is simply great done!
But as FO is set after the Dominion war it is not very likely that there would be Cardies fighting for the Dominion.
Nevertheless the Cardies will have a comeback as a non-player race in a future version of FO (Not V3 though.) and there will be far more than three ships available as far as I heard.
Actually, I do believe that the cardies will be in v3 as a non-player race. If you check the staff page, you will find that overlord/zeich has been brought in and his official assignment, if I recall, is non-player races.

And why not add the cylons while you're at it? No, Fleet Ops is not a crossover mod like Star Trek vs Star Wars. That leads to a whole bunch of balancing woes, like 'who really is stronger, the empire or the borg?' that leave half the people ticked all of the time.
Thinks are much simpler when yiou stick to one universe.
Plus, I believ there is a limit to the amount of races one can have ingame.

Concerning the limit-discussion we already learned some time ago that actually there isn't a limitation. So we could add whatever we liked to add.
BUT - and now this goes absolutely off-topic:
As you were talking about Cylons, I have to say it! I WANT A BSG (RDM) MOD FOR ARMADA II DONE BY THE FO-TEAM!
Uhm, back on-topic:
I dislike the idea of adding mirror-universe-stuff to FO because we never saw the Terrans fight the Dominion or whatever threat we have "here". They are not a race in my opinion and we didn't even have the Terrans and the Federation at war. I never really liked the idea of mirror-universes. In the first instance I never figured out, why people from one universe would have the desire to go to another one... to boost their economy eg. Well, the Terrans just don't make sense unless you try to understand these episodes as an answer to the question, how a world could be as nice as GR basically intended to depict it. Once the idea was written down.. there was no way to stop it, which doesn't mean it was a good one.
Cent, Cent...

I don't mind the mirror universe, and as far as travelling motivation go between universes, it's just another location, albeit a distant one.
As far as the Terran Empire goes, they fell long before Fleet Ops takes place.

yep, the mirror universe is not part of the Fleet Operations storyline and there wont be inter-dimensional travel.
We could however still think of a strange-painted ancient federation derelict here and there
