Problems with FO "Flickering" in screen captures.....

Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

This is directed more toward the guys who do replays.....

I'm having a real weird problem with screen capture process.  The FLOPS interfaces, graphics, basically anything on-screen is randomly flashing on and off in the recorded video.  I'm not seeing any indications that something is wrong in-game, but the replay is completely junk.

I'm thinking that it has something to do with the software I'm using..."Dell Webcam Central" in Desktop sharing mode.  May be the refresh rate, but I tried 50Hz, 60Hz, and Outdoor settings without luck.

Any thoughts, ideas?  I posted an example snippet, as a visual aid.  :)

I think the asynchronous cursor tends to cause some problems for Mal - not sure if you tried disabling that :)

Just did...still flickering.

It's almost like there's a frame rate difference between the capture software, and the FLOPs framerate.  :ermm:

Two rounds of Gin and a Hooker says it's the program you're using. B)  I highly recommend getting Fraps.  It's not terribly expensive, is easy to use, and fills your hard drive to the brim because it can.

If you want to stick with the program you have, you may want to check into what codec you're using to compress the video.  Maybe that's the problem.  The Divx codec is always a great choice.  The reason we like Fraps is it takes all the work out of the equations.  With programs like Camstudio and Dell "anything", you're probably going to have to play around more than you'd like.

Now that's some Sage advice.

Yeah, FRAPS has been quite good to me.  It might not be the best but it is super easy to use.  Uncompressed video can flicker and the audio can crack depending upon the player.  It has something to do with the volume of data I think...

That's pretty much the conclusion I've come to...was just looking for a solution using software I already own.
