Ships And Stations.

Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

Doca. Can you possibly provide some information on ship and station poly counts your using for FO. Also can you tell me whether the standard damage hierarchy will cause any problems with additional models being added??

I'm asking as I have a friend who wants to customise FO with some additional borg and klingon models and she doesn't have internet access.

(It's looking at the models being between 600 and 1500 polys (maybe slightly higher)).

Thanks. (I'll check back here in a couple of days).

welcome to the forum!
poly counts for fleetoperations are around 800-1200 for a normal vessels, stations up to 2500 or 3000. we use low object definitions (lod) to make models of each vessel with lower poly counts (100% for lod0, 70% for lod1 and 40% for lod2), but as long as she has a good pc a few polys here or there won't slow down Fleet Operations dramatically :)
the classic damage hirarch won't cause trouble as long as she uses the new sprites and emitters.

Optec. Sorry to argue with you but its "Level Of Detail".

Anyway, thanks for the responses. I'll pass on the info. it shouldn't be to much of a problem seeing as she's running a p4 3.06ghz machine (bloody faster than my p4 2.4ghz at any rate), and I thought I'd ask.

More reviews?? Unlikely. I tend to make a lot of enemies and if I had thought that FO was a pile of kack rest assured I would have said so.
