Small Idea
Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

Just a small idea, but probably doesn't fit into Fleet Operations that well. But anyway...
I think there's a problem where you just churn out the top ships e.g. Sovereigns, which isn't particularly realistic. I was thinking that you could make the top ships much more expensive so it would be impractical to build because of the high cost compared to combat performance.
However, if you have something like experience where you can transfer crews/captains, and you improve the performance of the ship. This way, moving the captain/crew into a powerful, expensive ship gives your fleet more of a benefit than moving the crew/captain into a small ship.
This way, expensive ships are practical to build as long as you have the crew/captain with experience, but its impractical to churn them out without good crew/captain since it would cost too much compared to making smaller ships.
For example (put simply):
An Akira class costs 1 unit of currency and has a combat rating of 10
A Sovereign costs 2 units and has a combat rating of 16
It would be better to spend 2 units on two Akiras than on one Sovereign becuase the overall combat rating is better.
If you have a captain/crew that doubles the combat rating of the ship and two units, then you can either:
1) Buy two Akiras again, and out the crew/captain in one of them. This would create a combat rating of 30 (10 for normal Akira and 20 for Akira with crew/captain)
2) Buy one Sovereign and put the crew/captain in it. This would double the combat rating to 32, more than the first option.
So this means that the larger ships (Sovereigns in this example) are better value if you have crew/captain, but smaller ships are better for the bulk of the fleet.
Sorry for not making much sense
Mike

hm.. i think its near impossible... but i like the idea..
maybe all ships should be more expensive, but thats only my opinion.. i just dont like too big fleets like in the orig.A2

Yeah but A2 is build on big fleets, it's part of the name. I'm happy with how it is now, I already construct almost all the ships available to me.
