so. hello everyone!
I just downloaded Fleet operations and:i'm really impressed! i just love how youmade a game like this out of the armada II engine.

But now to my questions^^

1.i heard that torpedoes are good against building and the hull, and beams against shields. but what are the advantages of pulse lasers and disruptors(and the other weapons)?

2. Are there hotkeys for special powers?  never found them and the Ai doesn't seem to use them properly...

3.what happened to species 8472 and the cardassian? will they be playable once again?

i hope you can answer my questions^^

Welcome on the forum, mate. Check out the strategy forum where you can find some cool stuff. Cardassians will appear as a non playable race, the 8472 species are left out, but the developers are planning to add a similar species, the noxter.

A new racce is to be added soon (within the next few up[dates) i hear, but me and a few other people are working on a mod called The Final Frontier that will let you play as the cardassians. (Yep a mod for a mod! how fun!)

Thanks ;) For a moderator this is an awesome place. If just all communities could be like that.

Welcome aboard dna! :) Cardassians and Species 8472 are not going to be a playable race due to the story line for the upcoming single player. However, you'll probably find them as NPC's or as Avatar bonus at some point in future. Still there's no clear statement from the devs. But you'll find Tholians and the Ciadan fraction in the next years. I for myself really, really hope this is going to happen asap. Until then enjoy playing Fleet Ops.

The Cadassian mod is also a very interesting thing to me...I follow the progress as many others do. Hope they come up with some great stuff as I also loved Cardassians in stock A2 (aswell as 8472).

thanks for the answers to you all, i'll post my question here, so i don't spam the forum with threads^^

so, does the offensive rating describe the power of weapons?

e.g: i have a 100 offense cube and a 200 offense cube. is the beam of the 200 offense cube stronger than the one of the other?

I think the offensive value include the weapons power, range, firerate and accuracy (which is perfect for most weapons).

Glad you liked the strategy guide Dna42 :) (feel free to give me comments/criticism on the other thread  :woot:)

According to Optec years ago (dunno if it is still accurate):

• Offensive Value:
The offensive capabilities of a starship or station. Units with higher offensive values can deal higher amounts of damage or have faster reload times
• Defensive Value:
The defensive capabilities of a starship or station. Units with higher defensive values can sustain higher amounts of damage before getting critically damaged or destroyed
• System Value:
The special system capabilities of a starship or station. Units with higher system values can recharge their shields and repair their hulls faster. The system value also defines the special weapon energy recharge rate.

According to Optec about 2 years ago: "the offensive value is an easy tool to allow the player to compare its units. the offensive value describes the offensive capabilities of a unit in terms of damage per second and burst damage potential"

So I'm not sure, but I think Tyler is more correct with his definition  B)

so the stats are more for comparing ships to eachother.
i was just a bit confused, cause the torpedo module gives + offense and i didn't understand how it would make the beam stronger^^

and to your strategy guide: it really helps me a lot! :woot: i focuse mostly on my eco and so i have problems in every game with defending my base in early and lategame^^
