Some Questions About 3.2.1
Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

Hey all.
Been loving the new patch, but I have some questions about things that I am not sure on how they work.
1. How does the new Borg Adaption module work? (I know it makes a micro photon torpedo, but how does the torpedo work? e.g. does it do more damage to the scanned factions shields or what?)
2. What does the Arlterium Disruptor do? (I did read the description but I am still not sure)
3. Can someone please explain 'simply' how the Refractive Shielding passive works?
Thanks all

Arlterium has a chance to disable weapons and suck energy.
Adaption scans a ship, and nearby ships will fire adapted torpedoes at vessels that have the same range and of the same faction.
Refractive Shielding reduces incoming damage if it is below 10 damage

I see - thank you
But then I guess Adaption is only good vs small ships
EDIT: When it says "allowing them to fire adapted torpedoes at targets which match the scanned craft in both faction and weapon range" - what does it mean when it says it matches it in faction? I understand that it will match the scanned vessel's weapon range, but what does it mean by matching the faction?
Also would the torp be any good vs larger ships or stations?
Thanks.

It looks like an anti-spam measure.
Lets say you're Borg with a fleet of Scubes and an Adaptor with Adaption module and your fleet runs into a bunch of Intrepids. Because all of the enemy ships are the same they will all get hit by an adapted torpedo from your ships.
A mix of Intrepids/Monsoons will also have the same problem as they are the same weapons range and faction/race.
If, on the other hand your Borg fleet is approached by Intrepids/B'rels, either the B'rels OR the Intrepids will be hit by the adapted torpedoes. The Intrepid and B'rel may have the same range, but are not the same faction/race. The targeting is dependent on which ship the Adaptor scans.
I'm not sure about the Adapted Torpedo damage, but if it is based on the Interception module, then damage is reduced against battleships and stations.

Yup, FrazUK has got it correctly . It's extra damage potential in general, so even though it does a large amount to smalls, it's still doing quite nicely to other sized-vessels

what if you have more than one adapter scanning at a time?

So far I've only seen the adaptor itself fire extra torps, I haven't been able to get other ships to fire as well. When the ability says "two ships" does it mean the adaptor and one other ship, or 2 other ships and the adaptor, or 2 ships total and the adaptor might be one of them through random chance???

I think it's the Adaptor plus another ship. I saw an Adatpor, a Scube, and a Dode with the daptor using the scanner. The Dode seemed to fire the normal number of torps, while the Regen Scube and Adaptor fired Adapted photons.

That's cool thanks all
Also, I was thinking, what would you think it would be like if say you install 2 Adaption modules, it does what it does now, but aswell when it scans a ship, the affected nearby Borh vessels also gain a 5% damage resistance to that kind of ship that was scanned.
Sorry I just hate spam and adaption is also about adapting to enemy weapons
Opinions?

All Borg vessels - regardless if they are usually armed with adapted photons - should fire them if affected by adaption. The Borg always have some stuff around to shot!
Sadly there were a few bugs that slipped through testing. i'm just putting together stuff for the next patch, including this fix

Yeah I was just playing an AI game with Mort and Cyrax, and my ships hardly ever fired adapted photons
Nuukov is sad
But if you could release a hotfix that would be nice
-But anyway what do you think of my tiny change to adaption to add a slight resistance buff aswell?

Yes, like Optec said, another patch will be up shortly to fix these bugs
I am not at all in favor of the 5% resistance mechanic on several fronts:
In terms of gameplay mechanics it means that each vessel must replaceweapon, leading to movement/order issues.
In terms of balancing it causes the Adaptor to be an even more powerful unit, which is not needed at the moment .

Meh ok
The replace weapon would be annoying so I guess it's ok then, but some kind of defensive adaption would be nice

i think the adaptor is super useful now.
its cheap enough that you can make them in numbers earlier and easier. they do good damage with that torp if it hits, and the module choices give a plethora of uses.
problems with leahvals? get an adaptor with an em module, it will negate their SSEC, wont get killed early by a hail of meta D. it will keep them visible when they try to cloak. its torp will hit the medium leahvals most of the time, an adaption module (when fixed obviously) will further hurt their spam.
i think most build orders could benefit from an adaptor now. before it was all too easy to leave them alone and go straight for sphere, now its hard to think of them not having uses. they fill that gap between scubes and spheres, where you cant spam scubes and probes any more, but dont have CCs for a sphere, so u end up not building while u save up for sphere lol. now u can fill that gap with some adaptors and the investment will pay off, those 2 new modules are fantastic. especially the 2 em for on demand decloak. even the probes can tachyon ping when a peri scube is near. so awesome.
