Changing resolutions doesn't work at that stage. The menu screens are always at 800 X 600 fixed resolution, IIRC. Resolution changes only appear when you are actually playing the game.

So it's a startup problem. It could be that FO doesn't like the way the screen OR the graphics card handles the 800 X 600 resolution, but it could also be another problem entirely, like the sound card or a faulty installation. Try to uninstall, reboot, reinstall 3.0.6, make sure it works or not, reboot again and install 3.0.7 regardless of if 3.0.6 worked or not.

If neither 3.0.6 nor 3.0.7 works that could give someone else a pointer to where the problem might be.

I don't know what the problem is, but I know the problem.  Mine usually works after I restart the computer, but before that (1) I sugest that you close everything else that is up, so that FO is the only thing running.  (2) when it is loading the game, if you click on the program in your bar at the bottom of the screen and then click and hol the clickd on the screen when it pops up, it should usually go back down but if you keep trying,it should eventually work. if none of that works, try to restart your computer, otherwise I have no more Ideas.  Sorry if that doesn't help.

I had a similar problem.  The best fix I found was to uninstall, then reinstall in the default directory.  I also updated my graphics card driver.  Also, if you think its a video resolution problem, just try changing the display resolution to 800x600.

Does it crash properly, with the option to send an error report to the fleetops team?

If I click anything else after the shortcut for FO, the focus shifts and the game crashes when it finishes loading. But if it crashes without an error box, then it's a different problem

Check any of the following possibilities:
- the installer is corrupted and the installed files are damaged
- the computer may not have enough RAM or VRAM
- the driver for the graphics card may need an update
- he/she may need to install a newer version of Direct X
- there may be a problem with how windows handles the program's dynamics
- there may also be some security filter or program control that may not like FltOps, if so change this by either putting the program on a 'trust-worthy' list or deactivate this filter.
