Tactics??

You know, I dont think I played Fleet Ops since it was first released on A2files a very long time ago (was too busy modding to play it much but it was impressive then. Well I downloaded the latest version recently and it was amazing, each race plays so differently I had no idea what to do. So firstly big congrats to the team for the job so far.

Now back to my thread title, is there a tactics guide anywhere?

Achilles, your Metathrans would be a spectacular addition to FO. I play AOW a great deal and that is some professional grade modding.

Not a dumb question at all. I made the mistake of assuming everyone knew. AOW is short for Art of War. It is a fullrace addon mod for stock A2 which Achilles made from scratch. It is some of the most amazing work ever. Like FO, no part of the Stock game is left untouched. Like FO, everything works as advertised straight from the install folder with excellent texture redos, challenging game play, and new concepts and special weapons. I am new to the FO Community, but I have noticed over the years whenever a new mod comes out, the FO Community seems to check first to see if it is for FO. And if it is not, they ignore it. Or worse, disrespect something they know nothing about and cannot be bothered to learn anything of. Not everyone does this. But enough do so it is generally true. Means people miss out on some good stuff. Sometimes people limit themselves by being exclusively loyal to one game or another

In terms of modding, I think a lot of people are actually open minded about A2 and FO, but I think because FO is the most multiplayer focused A2 mod out there, a lot of people who play online (and I think that is at least 50% of the community), they don't get very interested in any mods, whether A2 or FO, but tend to comment on FO mods here because they are on this forum.

I will admit freely until about a month ago, I really wanted little to do with FO. But I installed it and played it and I really do like it a great deal. I am in the process of going around looking at and thru all the FO mods which are available and I am very very impressed. Please understand until now I was staying with Stock A2 because I am kinda stubborn and I have spent a great deal of time modding it. To me, FO opens up more modding opportunities which until now I'd not considered. There are a great many fine people around here who've been nothing but most helpful to this Newbie and this is deeply appreciated. One of the things I'd like to accomplish around here is show people who've only played FO some of the amazing things done with Stock A2. Achilles' stuff is easily professional grade and of a quality rarely seen in any modding community for any game. Heck it is of a quality rarely seen in games or DLC we've paid for. It would be wonderful indeed to pay as the Metathrans in an online game. They are as good as TUN's Sigma. Which, if you have not D/L'd and played the Beta of yet, all I can say is you have no clue what you're missing.

I'd love to claim extensive knowledge of A2 mods which many around here would find enjoyable or entertaining. But I am a long way from a guru. What I do know I will share with others. I promise it will be a most enjoyable 30 seconds or so. lol
