Is it just me, or is the verbal replies you get from the spamoburg seem a bit long? Some seem longer than normal units...

they are a bit speechy, maybe they are crewed with vulcans as well as built by them.

i wish the picard voiceovers for a1/a2 were longer. maybe when a hero ent E gets put in they could use all his dialogue from the cut scenes as his unit speech. have him talk for about 5 minutes every time you give a move order  or cut some speeches out of the shows.

Similar to this, (I think) the newton's new speech is a bit wordy. It replies with a word then a pause then another few words. It sounds a bit disjointed. Anyone else think so?

A 5-minute speech for a simple move order?  That's outrageous!

I dont think it's bad to have a bit more wordy replies, it gives the ships more character :) nevertheless, we are aiming for shorter ones for the continuing redos :)

Actually, kind of makes sense for the Vulcan or engineer in these instances :sweatdrop: . For real combat ships, maybe not so much

I also feel they are a bit quiet compared to the other unit speech files. If I didn't play online I would just adjust the speech file myself but it would probably throw me out of sync with everyone else.

You should be able to do that.

There is also a unit speech setting on/off in the sound menus. if ya don't like vulcans talking your ear off, just switch unit speech off. thats what i do.

indeed they are quieter, you can turn that sound file up without breaking mp i think. adjust it with a program like audacity.

i dont like unit speech either, but if u turn it off you lose certain useful things like notification of a completed station, or completed ship, or completed research, or no moneys. i'd love to keep informational unit speeches, but turn off the mundane ones that trigger when u give a move order etc, i mean why tell me you're moving, i know you're moving cos i just clicked to make you move.

technically its possible by turning down the sound (a lot, to almost silent) all the sound files that you dont wanna hear. but thats a lot of work.

Yup, Myles is correct, you can change the volume without damaging compatibility :)
