What I think would be cool...

Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

...but probably won't be done.

Anyway fist I would like to say a big Thank You to the developers of FO, this is truly what armada 2 should have been and is only getting better.

This is just an idea, but if anyone has every played games like Age of Empires or anything similar you will know what I'm talking about. I think some type of "aging" system would be cool. Like you would start out in the Enterprise Era and then advance to the TOS Era, and finally the TNG Era. Your outpost could have the button needed to age up, and would have a certain amount of resources required for aging.  As you age old ships would be replaced with newer ships, and the older ships could be "retired" or used until destroyed. And once you reach the higher era's like TNG, races like Dominion could "warp in" with construction ships and start building, so you could keep races in the right era.

Anyway this probably is impossible to do, but something I thought would be cool, and wanted to share.

Well, it is possible, and it has been asked before: however, it would be quite hard to actually input for some basic reasons... who would make all these ships? Choose the balancing for eras? Etc. In other words, it would have to wait for a faaar flung version of FO, and even then, it is not really suited to an RTS I think  :sweatdrop:

True it would be a lot of work, making the ships I would think would be the hardest. But I do think it would work well in a game like Armada 2, and would allow those to play in the Era they enjoy playing in.

Sounds like something that would be best suited to a civilization builder, like Birth of the Federation.

I agree, it would be a cool feature.  The problem is we don't know much about the some races in different eras.  True, only two Romulan ships are actually shown in the show (as far as I know) (the D'Deridex and the Norexan), so they could make stuff up like they did for the Romulans, but even then they had a bit to work with.  Not to mention the fact that some races (such as the Romulans) seem to keep the same basic designs but just improve them technologically.  Given the fact that this mod is designed for multiplayer, I don't think it would work for some races to enter the game later.

Well that does sound like it would be a lot of fun, but to be honest that kind of change and work is a whole mod on it's own.  I don't know if there is one out there that attempted to do that, but I'd look around if I were you.

That is a massive gameplay overhaul change so it's not really practical Fleetops :)

3 in TNG-Era. There was the Talon Class seen at least once, though it wasn't named in the series.

It isn't a starship, but that Romulan Senator used a type of Romulan Runabout that looked like a smaller version of the Kestral Class from stock A2.

I have tried looking around, I have also been trying to find a mod for TOS Era ... but can't find any. Maybe the dev's could make a version of FO for TOS...  :whistling:

They are planning to make a TOS-Era Constitution Class (Low priority), maybe they'll consider a TOS ship of the other Empires?
